This August marks a pretty big milestone for us: it's been five years since we started development on Project Lexa! π With this milestone, we have a new dev blog talking about how far we've come and how excited we are for where we're going!
Two of Project Lexa's characters, Lex and Jansky, running across the ship's bridge, past the escape pods.
A scene from Project Lexa taking place on the ship's bridge. Several characters are standing around a table projecting a holographic sphere with documents in it. The robot character, MARC, is saying, "Hello, Engineer Jansky and [Name Not Registered]!"
A screenshot of Project Lexa, showing the in-game translator tablet. The tablet is currently displaying an email conversation between the characters Jansky and Boltzmann. The message reads as follows: "From: Jansky Boltzmann, I know you have trouble remembering your passwords, but you've gotta stop sending them to me. First oof, it's a massive security risk, and second, it's really annoying. -Clarke Jansky From: Boltzmann Gun cabinet password is 'Up Left Left Down Right...'" The rest of the message is cut off.
A screenshot of Project Lexa, showing the in-game translator tablet. The tablet is currently displaying a password entry screen with an array of four glyph buttons, an enter button, and a delete button.
Took some screenshots of our latest build of Project Lexa for A Thing, and thought I should share them here!
Project Lexa is a game all about translating an alien language, but how do you actually do that? With the help of your handy-dandy translator, of course! Our latest blog post is all about the game's most important piece of UI and how it has evolved during development.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 delayed and out of the way, we can finally announce thatβ¦ we still donβt have a release date for Project Lexa.
Or even a name, for that matter.
Little lighting test for a sci-fi game in the works.
Stay tuned!
A good hologram table in Helldivers 2.
A good hologram table in Warhammer 40K: Darktide.
More good hologram tables submitted by members of our Discord:
The bridge of the Sanctuary III in Borderlands 3 with a hologram table!
The bridge of the Normandy in Mass Effect 1 with a hologram table!
The bridge of the Chanticleer in Project Lexa with a hologram table!
If you have a spaceship in your game and it *doesn't* have a cool hologram table on the ship's bridge, then what are you even doing?
A set of five emoji of the faces of characters from Project Lexa: Babbitt, Jansky, Lex, MARC, and Boltzmann. Emoji art by John Wilinski. Background art by Nick Nazzaro.
Have you ever wanted to express yourself with the faces of a plucky starship crew? Well now you can! We just added Project Lexa crew member emojis to our Discord! Join our server to get access to them today! https://buff.ly/3DnWEmH
Yesterday we talked to you about the crew working on Project Lexa. Today, weβre talking about the crew *inside* Project Lexa! ward-games.com/post/meet-cr...
Read up on the characters of Project Lexa! I did the promo art for this post.
An illustration of M.A.R.C. or "Marc," the ship's robotic assistant. It's a robot with a shiny metal frame, a phosphorescent green screen for a face, two treads for legs, and two noodley arms that it's holding up above it's head. Art by John Wilinski.
And rounding out the crew is the shipβs assigned M.A.R.C. unit. M.A.R.C. β or the Multitool Armament for Robotic Consultation β is a helpful, but chatty, robot that has just as much chance to help the crew as get in their way!
An illustration of Billon Maddox, the ship's captain, as he rubs his chin and sports a somewhat blank expression. Art by John Wilinski.
Leading the team is Captain Billon βBillβ Maddox! Seasoned yet not so sure of himself, Maddox has been tasked with captaining this small crew on a low pressure reconnaissance mission. Surely nothing bad will happen!
An illustration of Mo Babbitt, the ship's medical officer, looking quizzical off to one side while holding up a medical syringe with red liquid. The syringe is spurting out some droplets. Art by John Wilinski.
Making sure the crew stays safe and healthy is serious business! Thatβs why theyβre happy to have onboard Mo Babbitt, the shipβs no-nonsense medical officer.
An illustration of Seric Boltzmann, looking self-serious and readying his pistol. Art by John Wilinski.
Need someone who knows everything about weapons and armaments? Seric Boltzmannβs your guy. The crewβs weapons officer is a seasoned vet that isnβt afraid to get his hands dirty β or even crack a joke every once in a while!
Illustration of character Clark Jansky, nervously wringing his hands, one of which is a robotic pincer attached to a robotic, prosthetic arm. Art by John Wilinski.
One of your crewmates is engineer Clarke Jansky. Extremely talented but always nervous, Jansky handles all things technological. He even built his own prosthetic arm!
Illustration of Project Lexa's player character Lex Kelza, currently furrowing her brow at the tablet computer she has in her hands. Art by John Wilinski.
Youβll be playing as Lex Kelza, an βinterface specialistβ in the world of Project Lexa. Interface specialists handle all things communication β managing comms devices, conducting diplomatic missions, and translating languages! We think that last one will be pretty important during the game...
