Het wegvallen van de infrastructuur om bijvoorbeeld “het aantal mensen dat crack gebruikt vergelijkbaar met het aantal mensen dat op het hoogtepunt heroïne gebruikte”(!) te overzien en ondersteunen is kwaadwillend, wreed beleid. Duurt jaren om op te bouwen, nu voor de zomer weg.

Schaf de dienstplicht af, en schaf daarna het leger af. Klaar met koloniale expedities.

Wat is er aan de hand? Het Team Openbare Orde Inlichtingen (TOOI) probeert achter de schermen in te schatten waar het mis kan gaan. Denk aan rellen bij voetbalwedstrijden of uit de hand lopende demonstraties. Om dat te kunnen voorspellen, verzamelt het team in het geheim informatie over mensen die eerder bij ongeregeldheden betrokken waren. Daarbij wordt niet zachtzinnig te werk gegaan, meldt de Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. De politie maakt gebruik van ‘burgerinformanten’ uit de directe omgeving van deze mensen om een dossier op te bouwen. Volgens de AP gaat de politie hierbij echter verder dan de wet toestaat. Compleet dossier De politie leunt voor dit werk op een wetsartikel dat een ‘geringe inbreuk’ op iemands privacy toestaat. In de praktijk blijkt die inbreuk echter allesbehalve gering. Het inlichtingenteam spit zó diep en langdurig in iemands leven, dat er een nagenoeg compleet beeld ontstaat van wie iemand is en wat hij doet. Daarbovenop worden gegevens vastgelegd over iemands gezondheid, religie, politieke voorkeur of zelfs iemands seksuele geaardheid. ‘Dat zijn bijzondere persoonsgegevens, die sneller kunnen leiden tot discriminatie of uitsluiting’, schrijft de AP in het rapport. ‘Voorkom willekeur’ AP-voorzitter Aleid Wolfsen slaat alarm. Volgens hem is de huidige werkwijze een gevaar voor de rechtsstaat. „Juist omdat handhaving van de openbare orde zo belangrijk is, moet dit goed geregeld zijn”, zegt Wolfsen. „Als de politie inbreuk maakt op iemands grondrechten, mag dat alleen op basis van duidelijke en nauwkeurige wetgeving. Dat voorkomt willekeur bij het optreden van de politie.” Het gaat volgens Wolfsen niet om ambtelijk geneuzel, maar om de kern van onze vrijheid. „De vrijheid om jezelf te zijn, te demonstreren en je mening te uiten, is de kern van een democratie”, stelt hij. „Mensen worden steeds vaker in hun dagelijks leven gevolgd.” Wolfsen waarschuwt voor een angstcultuur. „Mensen durven hun grondrechten minder te gebruiken, omdat zij bang…

I do appreciate cis advocates of trans healthcare, especially in these times, but I do wish more of them would let go of the "experts know best" framing. I'm aware it's safe, palatable, sellable, but there's a century of "experts" torturing, converting, and sexually abusing trans people. So.

Dit had voorkomen kunnen worden als SP, VVD en CDA zich simpelweg aan het regenboogakkoord zouden houden. Het akkoord dat zij hebben getekend en binnen drie maanden na de verkiezingen hebben verbroken. Dit is geen incident, dit is beleid.

Texas AG Ken Paxton has declared that it is illegal for mental health providers and therapists to treat trans youth. It means that trans youth will be denied access to any mental healthcare that isn't conversion therapy. Paxton also threatens parents of trans youth with child abuse investigations.

This party is invited not because of neutrality or objectivity or bc we need to invite the biggest parties or anything. Not for a silly reason like that. No, they're invited specifically because the organisers want to hear their perspective.

Watching @theabigailthorn.bsky.social 's essay on conversion therapy in the UK, and realising that my LGBt student association is inviting a party to their debate that wants the same for the Netherlands :)
