to my followers in chicago: avoid Miko's Italian Ice my gf wears a mask in public because she lives with someone who is immunocompromised and wants to keep them safe after making it through their (really competitive) process, she got the job come day 1, she was told "you can either take off the mask or not work here" it's messed up for a business to show this much disregard for their employees. spread the word

ren and I also took the Connect BRT (also pretty Fast and Decent) out west to check out these huge catenary poles - some of the last remnants of the TMER&L mainline that once connected milwaukee to outlying cities across wisconsin with fast electric trains.
for the bus foamers: some other flicks i caught
this system is pretty small, only serving downtown & immediate areas. milwaukee has many dense neighborhoods and corridors that could definitely be served by rapid rail - these mixed traffic streetcars, though, are low enough in capacity & speed that they're probably best kept circulating downtown.

milwaukee's Hop streetcar is actually pretty cool. a couple saturdays ago, @renzaro.com and i visited the city - a first for both of us.
frequencies weren't the greatest, but the vehicles were pretty nice & we moved quickly thanks to skilled operators. decently busy too!
