If you love rom coms and AAPI representation: watch A NICE INDIAN BOY on Hulu. Based on the play by Madhuri Shekar, an Indian American doctor played by Karan Soni is nervous about introducing his family to his boyfriend Jonathan Groff. Itβs sweet, surprising, and the parents had me cackling
Oh thank you so much Diep!! Iβm so glad you got a chance to see it!!!

Wrote about the hilarious and heartwarming A Nice Indian Boy for our latest Watchlist This feature:
Someone finally gave the adorable Karan Soni a fucking leading role and it's in an absolutely delightful gay movie with Jonathan Groff! It's called A NICE INDIAN BOY and it's out in theaters now. I loved it--from the musical moments to the family drama (and comedy!). More movies like this please!
Ahhh thank you for watching and the shoutout. Your strike tea TikTok series was amazing and invaluable!
I was incredibly lucky to see it at SXSW last year and I want to see it again
If you're lucky enough to live in a city A NICE INDIAN BOY is playing in you should go see it asap & if, like me, you're not, you should ask your local theater to start showing it. An actually funny, actually romantic romcom about queer joy, family, & figuring yourself out:

Yβall need to see A Nice Indian Boy asap. Itβs like having pure joy injected into your veins. Itβs hilarious, heartfelt, and smartly written and acted. Karan Soni and Johnathan Groff were amazing, as was the entire cast. Easily best movie Iβve seen this year in theaters.
Just sobbed my way through NICE INDIAN BOY. I am in my queer desi feelings. DDLJ plays a huge role in the movie, and I was reminded of how much I hate it. π But the cultural relevance to particular desi demos canβt be denied. I know that aspect went right over a lot of viewersβ heads.
I donβt usually watch rom coms OR cheesy LGBTQ+ films so when I tell yβall that A Nice Indian Boy is actually a pretty good film, filled with some good laughs, and is the perfect lighthearted distraction you could use for about 90 minutes from the real worldβ¦.please listen to me and go see the film!
it's out in theaters now!
A Nice Indian Boy Review: Groff and Soni Have Off The ChartsΒ Chemistry
A Nice Indian Boy proves that queer romcoms can also be fun, silly, and successful especially when the leads have insanely good chemistry. Check out our review!
Just saw βA Nice Indian Boyβ at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. For 1 hour and 39 minutes, it was so engaging, I forgot the world is on fire. See it if you canβI loved it.
cannot overstate the degree to which i am negatively polarized against nimbys.
like, if you go to a public meeting to speak against lower cost housing i think the city should eminent domain your house and your house specifically
A paragraph from Ta-Nehisi Coates' book The Message, which reads: "It may seem strange that people who have already attained a position of power through violence invest so much time in justifying their plunder with words. But even plunderers are human beings whose violent ambitions must contend with the guilt that gnaws at them when they meet the eyes of their victims. And so a story must be told, one that raises a wall between themselves and those they seek to throttle and rob."
Ta-Nehisi Coates wields words like sledgehammers.
After Trump was elected, I started to wonder what could the grassroots, cities, and states do to move the needle on climate change without federal support. It turns out, a lot (gift link)
