Take a look at the new database on the website. The estimates are better than one may think!
Some readers seem skeptical of my numbers. So I went back to the drawing room and, independent of the book, produced a database you can look at on the website: thekillingage.com. Still a work-in-progress, but I think my estimates hold up pretty darn well.
One does not have to be a democratic socialist to recognize the connections between slavery and the industrial revolution, or that the formative century of capitalist development was profoundly violent. Adam Smith knew this! I have addressed many of these issues in the website thekillingage.com
Lots of people seem unhappy with my book. For additional info go to thekillingage.com and see for yourself!
Methinks the holes are in the reviewers head.

Not sure this is the end or the beginning, but a copy of the North American edition of The Killing Age arrived in the mail yesterday. My deep appreciation to the Chicago team for all the work they have put into the project. In North America, copies are on their way to bookstores.
These issues are explored in great detail in the book, The Killing Age, and also the website thekillingage.com

Huge thanks to the Picador team based in London for the amazing job they have done publishing my book. Both the North American and International hardbacks have maps covering both sides of the endpapers, one from about 1700 and the other 200 years later.
Thrilled that Harper's Magazine is excerpting my new book, The Killing Age. Keep an eye out for the November issue!
Thrilled that Harper's Magazine will be excerpting my book The Killing Age in an issue coming out in the next few months.
The website that accompanies my new book is now available: www.thekillingage.com
"This is the most urgently important book I have read this year or in many years. ...The Age of Killing will provoke, enrage, and inform its readers--and it will change how they see the world. An epic masterpiece. "
Sunil Amrith, author of The Burning Earth
Yes, pretty grim. But I hope it is still a good read!
The latest endorsement of The Killing Age: "Our understanding of the global history of the last 300 years will never be the same again." -- Peter Furtado, editor of Revolutions
The website that accompanies my new book is almost done and set to launch in the next month or so: thekillingage.com
First review of my new book, The Killing Age: (www.goodreads.com/review/show/...)
"-A bombshell of a bookβCrais proves that modernity was built not on ideas, but on corpses.
-The Silent Spring of history: an unflinching exposΓ© of how violence became the worldβs most profitable industry."
First bound copies of uncorrected proofs recently arrived at Picador!
