The first thing I learned about Black Washingtonians is that they do NOT play about Mayor Berry.
I never met a Washingtonian that didn’t praise this man’s summer youth program.

And it also reminds me of the Black enclaves in Colorado. Particularly the Five-Points neighborhood in Denver, which isn't too far outside Boulder.

If you didnt grow up in the D.C. area, you probably only know 1-2 things about this man.
No one mentions his tenure as the 1st chairman of SNCC. Or that he created the largest Black middle class in the country. And presided over "chocolate city" from 1979 to 1999.
