We're not really getting 100 States, or 1000 Representatives, or 100 Justices. But there are things that are feasible, & Democrats (& democrats) need to make this stuff central, not saying its too technical/boring & promising Magical Unicorn Policies that can't get through our current institutions:
Bring it back.
A picture of PEW poll on global attitude survey, saying the % who rate the morality and ethics of people in their country as good vs bad, where the US has the worst rankings and Canada the best
Americans: we live in a fallen stateβembroiled by sin, cheating, lying, and evil. You cannot trust anyone, not even those who claim to know you best
Canadians: I love my neighbors and my friends!
The US, as a whole, is more anti-war than at any time in my lifetime. That there isn't a party you can reliably count on to oppose war on principle is one of the most deflating aspects of American politics. These fucking chickenhawks are willing to destroy everything to satisfy their bloodlust.
Balint to Noem: "You're the secretary of DHS -- for now. And you think you're immune from accountability. But I promise you this: one day he is not gonna be president anymore. And when that day comes, we will still be here. And in hearings like this, we are going to continue to prove your guilt."

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.
He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.
the kind of thing that gets played at a war crimes trial
I'm an American at a conference in London and had dinner last night with citizens of France, The Netherlands, and New Zealand, and it was definitely the main topic of conversation for our group. :(
When someone says βScientists do not want you to knowβ you can dismiss everything from there on. Scientists want you to know. They are desperate that you know. They canβt shut up about what they found out and want you to know.
Folks look at you like you're crazy when you say we're in the midst of the worst, most unprecedented Article I constitutional crisis in American history, & then it's Tuesday:
When we talk about Baby Boomers not getting off the stage: In 1997, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2007, the US president was born in 1946.
In 2017, the US president was born in 1946.
And next year in 2027? The US president will have been born in 1946.
part of me wonders if the rapture people were right all along and DJT is in fact the antichrist
The kids will hardly believe it today, but way back in 2024, the mental & physical acuity of elderly presidents was, quite literally, <the> single most important, nonstop front page story of American politics π€
USA stocks shrugging. World stocks tanking

So, so instructive to compare media response to Afghanistan withdrawal -- months of hysterical garment-rending & catastrophizing, relentless criticism of the admin -- with the response to an unprovoked, unmotivated, illegal war of aggression, ie, "some critics say maybe Trump should have reasons."
Press gave Biden far worse coverage for a small number of American soldiers dying while leaving a war than to Trump for a similar number dying while starting a war for no reason. It makes you think!
I get great joy loading my 12 8'boards into my sedan comfortably and watching truck owners not able to do the same in their trucks.
It really seems like trumps foreign policy is:
βWe donβt know what the question is but we know the answer is regime change.β

This War Will Destabilize The Entire Mideast Region And Set Off A Global Shockwave Of Anti-Americanism vs. No It Wonβt
I can't fucking believe we're doing this again.

The media and academia have an obligation to not remain neutral in the face of authoritarianism. These institutions need liberal institutions to exist in any meaningful way. Authoritarianism is an existential threat. Our devotion to "neutrality" will keep us from fighting for our own survival.

They are still taking taxes from Minnesota last time I checked.
Also, why sort of regimes involve collective punishment, including punishing the innocent. This is not about fraud, itβs about control.
