hell yeah
hope you feel better soon

Person on social media: How dare you say A โ B

I am more and more convinced that when cis people want to debate whether trans people get human rights, the only correct response is "I don't treat whether or not people get human rights as a debate topic or hang around people who do" followed by leaving.
this is the New Me, who knows how powerful he is. it did take several replies before i remembered i could bail so it's an imperfect process
it really is nice to finally (hopefully permanently) learn that if someone comes in to fight me as a stand-in for the person in their head, i just... don't have to!
i see bluesky has not solved the "just opening up to vent at strangers" social problem. but this time around i am improved and can just block people instead of doing an extremely dumb argument
oh wait i don't have to get in dumb fights on here with people who aren't trying to communicate so much as just yelling
nope! it is in fact bad and a bad industry. but i gotta say, if someone asks a question and then anyone who tries to give a good faith answer just gets peppered with insinuations that trying it out is the same as building data centers, it's going to be hard to get questions like that answered
๐
i mean if you read my answer in the context of the question asked - "aren't you concerned that it lies to you" i think the answer to your question is obvious. do you actually expect every single post to cover every aspect of a topic?
yes, a toy that sometimes saves me hours or days of effort and no, when this last gasp of the millennial lifestyle subsidy dies out i'll just do something else. but i think you're basically just trying to do some gotcha stuff to a person answering a question in good faith
but also if the ai companies blew up i wouldnt cry about it
would i rely on it where stakes are high or to be accurate about "research" or numbers? nope
do i even trust it the way some people do to do a tedious computer task over and over? no
have it write a script i verify to do the task over and over? sure
examples:
coding - the code runs or it doesn't, being wrong is easy to check
playing with workout routines - if it's not optimal its fine, i know enough not to hurt myself
if something seems weird, i use another source. you do get a vibe for when it's making stuff up
i use them a bit and the answer is it doesn't really bother me for a few reasons
- i dont think lying is the right term since chatbots dont think. any internet source has a nonzero chance of being wrong, same with chatbots
- i dont use them in a context where being wrong is expensive or harmful
built and positioned the ethernet cable, not up for putting holes in the wall. tomorrow maybe
well, i got a saw and a bracket and wall plate. too bad i needed 2 brackets and 2 wall plates
ha, something i said at work the other say was "if our employer was offering us a drug that made us feel really productive but also was addictive and made us dumber, we'd all think a lot more carefully about using it
Many of the older Fire Emblem games never made it out of Japan. But thanks to the community, games like Fire Emblem - Thracia 776 have an English translation at least. This one is rare to find even for Japan too as it was a late SNES release. #romhack
today i get to walk over to the hardware store and get stuff for running ethernet through a wall. i'm not doing the "optimal" hidden solution because it seems like more work than i want to do, but at least it'll be a little nicer going through one wall instead of the hallway
nothing makes me feel like i live in a rich society more than eating an orange or a banana in minnesota
i'd argue that AI has always been a marketing term that leads to a lot of genuine confusion
i promise i'm not so irresponsible as to watch netflix on some crazy smart glasses while riding outside, not matter how cyber it would be
hell yeah
thanks to dan i started watching this on my bike rides and am having a grand time. it's a little weird that instead of pump up music i get psyched for a hard ride with nerds arguing about a supreme court nomination but that's my brain for you
just wanted to say i like your website's design
sadly i've never been able to motivate myself to do anything based on shame or guilt. my advice is basically all the standard stuff: give yourself a lil treat, set some sort of athletic goal to work toward, remind yourself that actually going to the gym is a nice time, etc
the opposite of the classic "don't run for higher office, we need you here!" compliment
