Having them control the ontology is a losing battle. As soon as you get into an argument and donβt contradict the assumption that a woman is defined biologically, youβve already conceded ground.

in fact thatβs what I often say. But the pushback against βI identify asβ seems to be largely because opposition dismiss it as βI think something thatβs not based in realityβ. That misunderstanding is on them, not me. I donβt, and we shouldnβt, change language to accommodate oppressors.
the βI amβ¦β phrasing is a stronger claim, implying objectivity (which is also still true.) Which is fine if you donβt mind inviting an ontological challenge. It should be enough that I say Iβm a woman for you to treat me as one. I donβt need to prove anything. Iβm not saying you canβt say βI amβ,
I donβt get the hate for the βI identify as aβ¦β phrasing. Itβs a true and irrefutable statement about what you believe. βI am aβ¦β could indeed be synonymous for you, like the difference/similarity between βI feel angry,β vs. βI am angry,β but because of prevailing cultural beliefs,

Iβve reported on homelessness for years and met many, many people who have found themselves in awful situations
Every single one of them had more decency and integrity than this privileged plutocrat

Speaking as an expert on transphobia and the gender critical movement:
Block them. Hide replies. Report them. Do not "debate" them.
The fact that they are campaigning so hard against blocking and in favour of debate/their right to harassment should tell you - it serves their interests to engage.

Novel ideas, depending on your definition of novel, and idea, are something AI can come up with - thenextweb.com/news/deepmin...
I don't think that inherently implies consciousness, FWIW
If we cannot describe consciousness with any form of communication, then it does not necessarily mean the same thing to each person, and thus is entirely subjective and immune to any inspection or predictive power. To that end, what would a machine have to do to convince you it was conscious?
I would say by interacting with the world and observing what happens, we have an experience that we can combine with our existing knowledge - form some hypotheses - then test them. These are novel ideas, but they all come from inputs we have taken in / been "trained" on.
I would think that applies to people too. Along those lines, "how can we say people are intelligent if we can't define consciousness?"
