We actually like the Common Legendaries because there are a few Excaliburs that are unplayable w/out a legendary creature and some that greatly benefit from one. (but we get what you're saying lore-wise)

What are the odds of a 2-color common legendary in this set?
The observation that Rhystic Study is less effective at ruining low power games is one that I can agree with, but I still don’t really think it belongs in EDH.
It works well in #PendragonMTG. In fact, I would argue that competitive Pendragon games are where it is most enjoyably played.
I love Nettle Drone to much, so I decided to brew up a Pendragon deck that’s technically 100% colourless minus the Excalibur :p

If you are running Luxior as your Excalibur in #PendragonMTG or just as a powerful equipment in Commander, I highly suggest you add in some of the #LorwynEclipsed Blight mechanic.
With Luxor equipped it's all value with no downside.

A flyer depicting the Pendragon MTG logo, links, qr code, as well as showing how the format works: Pendragon is a 100-card singleton format. In the command zone you have a common creature, aka your "Arthur" and a legendary artifact - equipment, aka your "Excalibur" Together, they make up the color identity for your deck! The other 98 cards must be of common rarity, or printed at common rarity at some point in MTG's history. You start with 30 life. If dealt 21 commander damage or receive 10 infect/poison damage from another player, you are out of the game. The game is ideally played in a pod of 4, but can be enjoyed in a 1 v 1 setting!
