He goes on to describe one of his officers being stopped when she was off-duty solely because she's non-white, harassed by ICE goons who slapped her phone out of her hand as she tried to record, only to be let go when she finally revealed she was a cop.
You know I love my #xpncountdown. A friend turned me onto this triple J from Australia, and their 2025 countdown starts this weekend! www.abc.net.au/triplej/news...
If you love Christmas music and that sort of vibe but are tired of listening to the same boring stuff, allow me to invite you to tune into @wxpnfm.bsky.social in Philadelphia where the great @djrobertdrake.bsky.social is starting his annual 24-hour marathon of appointment radio.
More year-end countdown mania... KEXP is doing their listener-voted top 90.3 on Friday 10am Pacific time and WXPN is doing their top albums of 2025 (voted on by staff) on Monday. #xpncountdown It's the most wonderful time of the year.
It hasn't even been twelve hours, but all three of us have been overwhelmed with requests from media for comment and I'm mostly writing this now so they'll leave me alone.
They've been on my mind a lot lately. Turned some folks on to their cover of The Smiths' Last Night I Dreamt, which is even more haunting that the original, especially due to Mimi's harmonies.
You as well! It's great to hang out with the fun loving XPN folks sharing their passion.
Whew #xpncountdown is over so I can go back to avoiding Bsky. Thanks @wxpnfm.bsky.social, cant express what a welcome distraction it was when some pretty tough things were happening in my life. Happy New Year!
I guess it was appropriate that I was asleep dreaming when you played my one vote wonder Last Night I Dreamt. But nobody loved me in that dream. It was one of those packing for the trip anxiety dreams where you’re always forgetting something. LOL
Great picks! Love the KD
Oh, you played Low’s cover of the smiths! Sadly i was still in dreamworld when you played it. @kristenkurtis.bsky.social!
Yes, really just feels like one amazing song. Which is the magic! RIP Dave Ball. So glad I got to see them last June.
Nice to see that I wasn't the only person who specified the Tainted Love/Where Did Our Love Go mix!!! But we can still claim that #15 spot right?
Score card
My #xpncountdown report card was pretty solid. I think thats at least a B+ maybe A-
We can take this discussion up next year! All the best, Jill.
Oh dear god. No that's cool. Thanks for the concept though.
Woah, massive oversight. I didn't even have Talking Heads' cover of Take Me To The River on my consider list for #xpncountdown.
My only other vote not to make the countdown is Phoebe Bridgers' cover of The Gold. But I'd be surprised if that was a one vote wonder.
I'm 99.9999% certain that Low's cover of The Smiths' Last Night I Dreamt Somebody Loved me is going to qualify for this list. However, since Mike V had me on @wxpnfm.bsky.social the Monday before Thanksgiving and played my votes during lunch hour, I would understand if you play something else.
Robbed!
My #2 clocks in at #15 in the #xpncountdown, although technically I voted for the extended US radio mix that transforms into Where Did Our Love Go. So, I guess that might be so specific it's a one vote wonder? I'll claim it at #15.
Finally, hitting the last few of my votes that will make it on the #xpncountdown.... its a very Mad World.
Do not ask Mayor Parker to sing along with Gloria. G L O R I A? E G L S E S. ##xpncountdown
I would definitely be speeding if driving to this at night
OK, some Adele on the #xpncountdown. Time to have some food. We're allowed to eat while the countdown is on, right?
Oh, the hits keep coming. Sundays cover of Wild Horses is essential. I don't even mind this version of Sound of Silence by Disturbed, even though the singer sounds like he's about to have a coronary. #xpncountdown
OK, cry count #2 after Israel's version of Somewhere over the rainbow. The count may yet go up.
Maybe time to give up hope for Phoebe Bridgers' The Gold making the #xpncountdown.
That being said, Israel Kamakoawio'ole's version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow at #32 just freaking glows. Forever.
Another #xpncountdown honorable mention from my non-votes, the Lemonheads killer version of Ms. Robinson.
