The original date was this upcoming Easter. He changed it to October months ago and explained how it was changed during the book writing process because the sign is the star and an editor told him that would happen on Easter.

I don't think he's lying either and there is plenty of video evidence with large crowds, hence why the powerful are flocking to him. Certainly they all have their own motives.
