So: basmati works great. I really love the rice componentβ¦itβs almost like Mexican rice that has βpoppedβ a bit. This might even be better than making it with standard white rice.

A bowl of jambalaya with rice, sausage, chicken, & veggies showing.
Oh, that looks good! π
And since Cajun is on the menu, sazeracs are the cocktail du jour.
Have I ever mentioned that these got me through grad school? π₯
Ask and ye shall receive. π π
Making a big olβ pot of Cajun goodness tonight. My favorite jambalaya recipeβ¦trying it with basmati rice tonight since weβve discovered @elleqsabine.bsky.social can eat that due to its low glycemic index. Since basmati is amazing in general Iβm sure it will be great.
Note: biryani attempt next week
A good day for sore tushies
Excellent! My wife did too, though I didnβt get pics of her pink cheeks. π
The good olβ days. π
Not terribly long (Hoppers) but itβs a bit of a drive away so we have a few hours.
Iβm sure sheβs seen me swat though I do generally try to be discreet about it. I jokingly said the other day that I was going to stop being so discreet though since we havenβt as much alone time.
It is a distinctive sound, though perhaps more so to those of us with attuned ears.
This is where βFind Myβ on the iPhone comes in handy. π
Though we almost had that happen when I was spanking a friend on the couch upstairs while she slept downstairsβ¦the night we discovered she no longer slept soundly & consistently. That was a sad day.
Yup. And βpokingβ.
Daughter announced unexpectedly that sheβs going out to see a movie with a HS friend tonight.
So as soon as @elleqsabine.bsky.social is done sitting at her desk for work I can work on making it uncomfortable for her to sit. π
Iβm also always annoyed when I buy a new light fixture or lamp or something & discover it uses a non-standard bulb as Iβm installing it. Why would you do that???
Absolutely not. I canβt count the number of times Iβve thought I had the right type of bulb or right size nut/bolt & then had to shamefacedly turn around & go back to the store.
Most recent time was in December leaving on our trip for daughterβs graduation & having a turn signal go out. π
Only other way to know is see if thereβs a sticker on the fixture - like inside the glass or whatever where the bulb goes - that specifies what bulb to use (wattage & base size). That would also be on the long-gone packaging but thatβs not helpful in your case, bu there may be a decal.
It can be tricky. The most common ones are standard base (normal everyday bulbs) & chandelier base (smaller in some decorative light fixtures) but you occasionally run into other odd sizes. If you have old bulb, might be best taking it in to a Loweβs or Home Depot & comparing or asking an associate.

You young whippersnapper. π
I think they had just opened up FB to non-.edu when I got it because it was still an option to verify your university but not required. But I was a slightly late adopter on that.
This of course means that you are quite definitely a vampire. π§ββοΈ
Dial-up on a university UNIX shell. Netscape from a free disk at the CompUSA checkout. AOLβ¦but CompuServe before that. π
Itβs on his Wikipedia page. π I happened to look him up recently to try to figure out what his deal was.
Kid you not, his mother planned to name him one or the other (2 uncles) and wrote both on birth certificate form planning to erase one, and then forgot to.
I get it - realized early on in my EMS days that you donβt get to pick your patients, but theyβre still your patients.
One for the left & one for the right. π π π
Sometimes it takes awhile until you can prod the memory without it causing pain. Itβs OK to take that timeβ¦and also OK βenjoyβ the memory eventually.
The urge to do this every day is strong.
Ran out of creamer in my office mini fridge so itβs tea the rest of the week until the supermarket run. And Iβm not even sorry about it. βοΈ
