So: basmati works great. I really love the rice component…it’s almost like Mexican rice that has β€œpopped” a bit. This might even be better than making it with standard white rice.

And since Cajun is on the menu, sazeracs are the cocktail du jour.

Have I ever mentioned that these got me through grad school? πŸ₯ƒ

Making a big ol’ pot of Cajun goodness tonight. My favorite jambalaya recipe…trying it with basmati rice tonight since we’ve discovered @elleqsabine.bsky.social can eat that due to its low glycemic index. Since basmati is amazing in general I’m sure it will be great.

Note: biryani attempt next week

A good day for sore tushies

Excellent! My wife did too, though I didn’t get pics of her pink cheeks. πŸ˜‰

Not terribly long (Hoppers) but it’s a bit of a drive away so we have a few hours.

I’m sure she’s seen me swat though I do generally try to be discreet about it. I jokingly said the other day that I was going to stop being so discreet though since we haven’t as much alone time.

It is a distinctive sound, though perhaps more so to those of us with attuned ears.

This is where β€œFind My” on the iPhone comes in handy. πŸ˜‚

Though we almost had that happen when I was spanking a friend on the couch upstairs while she slept downstairs…the night we discovered she no longer slept soundly & consistently. That was a sad day.

Daughter announced unexpectedly that she’s going out to see a movie with a HS friend tonight.

So as soon as @elleqsabine.bsky.social is done sitting at her desk for work I can work on making it uncomfortable for her to sit. 😈

I’m also always annoyed when I buy a new light fixture or lamp or something & discover it uses a non-standard bulb as I’m installing it. Why would you do that???

07.03.2026 01:05 πŸ‘ 1 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Absolutely not. I can’t count the number of times I’ve thought I had the right type of bulb or right size nut/bolt & then had to shamefacedly turn around & go back to the store.

Most recent time was in December leaving on our trip for daughter’s graduation & having a turn signal go out. πŸ˜‚

Only other way to know is see if there’s a sticker on the fixture - like inside the glass or whatever where the bulb goes - that specifies what bulb to use (wattage & base size). That would also be on the long-gone packaging but that’s not helpful in your case, bu there may be a decal.

It can be tricky. The most common ones are standard base (normal everyday bulbs) & chandelier base (smaller in some decorative light fixtures) but you occasionally run into other odd sizes. If you have old bulb, might be best taking it in to a Lowe’s or Home Depot & comparing or asking an associate.

I think they had just opened up FB to non-.edu when I got it because it was still an option to verify your university but not required. But I was a slightly late adopter on that.

I get it - realized early on in my EMS days that you don’t get to pick your patients, but they’re still your patients.

Sometimes it takes awhile until you can prod the memory without it causing pain. It’s OK to take that time…and also OK β€œenjoy” the memory eventually.
