Unfortunately not a whole lot Germ can do right now to resolve that issue, since it’s an iCloud Keychain problem. But what has worked for us is: when transferring devices or restoring a device, using device to device transfer (instead of restore from backup) seems to preserve the keys in keychain
Ack, this means your iCloud Keychain didn’t restore properly. Our keys are stored in keychain, and it seems that restoring device state from a backup loses some (…maybe all?) of that data. And since that’s where we store your encryption keys, resetting iCloud Keychain kills your Germ app.

Glad it worked for you without 2FA—login has worked for people using email-based 2FA but it seems to make the process less reliable. And in your case it didn’t work at all… so, thank you for your patience. Our basically sole focus the next few weeks is fixing OAuth, to prevent this frustration.

Oh interesting. Your login issues resolved right after you removed the com.germnetwork.keypackage record? That's a data point.......
If you'd like to send us logs after a failed login (but before force quitting, which resets logs!), you can go to Dashboard > App Logging > Send logs to Germ. Then just put your handle in the notes section and send em over, please!
Custom handles are supported! But some users have been having login problems, regardless of handle. Fixing the OAuth is our main focus right now, but in the meantime, your best shot is force quitting and then reopening the app between logins!
