The old “can’t back up the thing I said so switching to an ad hominem” routine, we know it well

I think if you look at the numbers on this and conclude the Democrats are the problem you should maybe look at it again?

And a lot of comments saying it was "just enough" Dems crossing to defeat it. This is not true, "just enough" would have been 1. The whipping brought people into the YES column, not the other way around, you can watch it happen in real time on the House clerk's video feed

No, he is a Senator until he's confirmed. Acting titles only go to Senate-confirmed nominees which he is not

They haven't said any such thing and they aren't going to fund it either

If you google his positions on foreign affairs and in particular the Middle East and Israel I think you will see a larger pattern with which this vote is consistent

Confirming the reported vote split above- these were indeed the crosses. Vote sheet here: clerk.house.gov/evs/2026/rol...

Are you familiar with him or hearing his name for the first time? If you're familiar it's not a huge shock

Most people who see this are going to readily understand who is for the war and who is against it, which is a good thing

Meant to say "arguing with the noes" sorry that's my bad. You spend a few years in the minority and you get used to voting no a lot

It took 216 votes to get a majority here. 215 Republicans voted no and I personally think they don't deserve to get away with that

People in my mentions blaming Jeffries and Pelosi for defections, and you shouldn't. Both whipped hard for yes on this, Pelosi was personally arguing with yesses on the floor until the vote closed. If you were following this previously, you'll see that some who had said they were voting no flipped

The House just defeated the Massie-Khanna War Powers Resolution on Iran.

Crosses, reportedly, were-
R's voting yes: Massie, Davidson (R-OH)
D's voting no: Golden, Landsman, Cuellar, Vargas

There's a rational temptation in these moments to ask if what follows will be worse, and to let concern temper happiness.

My two cents and experience from Trump's first term is it's important and good to celebrate victories when you get them. Kristi Noem is truly awful, we should be glad she's out

Just updating this- votes are scheduled today for 4 pm hour.

Timing difference is because Rs cancelled votes tomorrow

The vote was technically on the motion to discharge the Iran War Powers Resolution, which failed. Had it succeeded, they then would have voted on the resolution itself. But you know, effectively

The Iran War Powers Resolution vote just failed in the Senate. Party line, with John Fetterman voting no and Rand Paul voting yes

Sometimes when you rush, mistakes like "Untied Nations Security Council" and "Rafeal Grossi" get into final text
