For the record, I did not enjoy lying about the existence of THE HUNT FOR BEN SOLO, but it really did need to remain a secret…until now!
Years later, this morphed into a two-fer: I would direct a contemporary color film and THEN the first film in the parallel franchise.
To clarify/expand on Tony Gilroy’s comments re Bond, what I was pitching in 2008 was a parallel franchise; low-budget (25m), R-rated, with a different actor playing JB. An indie auteur playpen, with each story a fictional behind-the-scenes take on a real historical event (the Profumo affair, etc).
Anyone who knows me and what I’m all about also knows today is the 50th anniversary of the release of JAWS. Less importantly, the LONG-gestating project about said film is progressing…look for a year-end release. It started as a book but has morphed into something…different.
