Domestic Switch 2 is MUCH CHEAPER than anywhere else in the world, and even the multi-language version of the Switch 2 within Japan! So I would take these numbers with a pinch of salt! Nintendo is using the JP only language version to boost their numbers.

US gamers will pay $449.99 for Nintendo’s Switch 2, a significant price bump from the $299 first-generation console. But in Japan, the console will be more affordable. Nintendo developed a Japanese edition of the console, which will launch for 49,980 yen or $343 USD. The catch? It only functions in Japan, Nintendo's home country, so US travelers can't pick one up on their next trip to Tokyo. "Japanese is the only supported language. Only Nintendo accounts with 'Country/Region' set to 'Japan' can be linked," Nintendo says of the Japanese Switch 2. console differences (Credit: Nintendo Japan/Google Translate) The Japan-only Switch 2 was specifically created to be affordable, Nintendo said in a press release. Some speculate the product is meant to address a weak Yen, which has lost around 50% of its value against the US dollar over the past five years. Of course, a cheaper Switch 2 might attract scalpers. So Nintendo likely instituted the country-based limits to prevent people from buying up units and reselling them in other markets. An FAQ further explains the differences between the Japan-only and international versions of the Switch 2. The former can only access the Nintendo eShop for Japan.

You forget to mention that JP Switch 2 us. Worldwide Switch 2 has a massive price difference, even within Japan. This inflates domestic sales considerably!

One could say that they knew it was going to be an issue for investors to see Switch 2 sales well down, so bringing out a cheap JP Switch 2 domestically to boost those numbers would inflate what they have. Feels like any Switch 2 analysis always needs to highlight the issue with that data!

£234.30 for JP only Switch 2 vs £385.99 for other languages (not even incl. US tariffs) - I wonder why it's possibly not selling nearly as well! Odd that the article doesn't note the price difference - even for the global version being sold for more in Japan too. Would love that breakdown.

Just so you know, I added our Greenland campaign map to Unseen Diplomacy 2 back in March 2025, as I was trying to include regions who rarely get represented in games 🥲 I really wasn't expecting what we're getting today in real politics.

Samsung A59 or something. Yeah, it's well off! My a6100 I trust a lot more lol, and is much closer to what we were seeing.
