I need people to understand that "AI" used in moderation isn't necessarily the "AI" of ChatGPT + friends or synthetic text extruding machines, or LLMs. There's stuff lumped under "AI", as the term is a marketing term, that is actually useful and important for flagging stuff on social media.

So I participated in this survey and as of right now the majority of the comments are sincere and thoughtful. And many want clarification on the difference btwn machine learning and gen-AI. Part of democratizing technology is clear communication that dismantles harmful opaque marketing terminology.

E.g. instead of having many pieces of private data, can we just have one for a bunch of private data (or an empty set of private data!)?
That way the metadata is somewhat of a fuzzy indication that you may have private data but not guaranteed??
That way there is "some" protection against metadata.
Okay all of that said to really say these two things:
1. i really like the idea around having a metadata only CAR/stream however,
2. is there something that we can do to limit the metadata leakage for private/secret data?
for this use case i had in mind, PDSes would just need a well known HPKE endpoint to publish their public key details + key's purpose for this!
Without loss of generality, this could be extended to beyond PDS to PDS operations.
At a high level:
1. sealed macaroons prevent further attenuation to simplify the verification process (i.e. a macaroon cannot be further attenuated beyond the issuance).
2. HPKE would allow for a way for services to have third party caveats (e.g. "PDS1: PDS2 please verify auth of this admin")

and @bnewbold.net's comment about UCAN T-Rexes haunted me while I began writing this proposal.
I had been looking at sealed macaroons + HPKE as an authN/Z mechanism to compliment OAuth for ATProto. I went so far as to begin writing a PR for the bluesky-social/proposals repo but stopped as I worried the solution was overcomplicated.
My use case was to simply have RBAC for admins...
