It might be this summer before we can start . Hailey is about 4 hours away and has a summer job- hopefully she can find a week during the summer to come visit.

This is a sketch my granddaughter Hailey sent me. It's a table she wants to build, and I am excited to work on this project with her!
Hailey is a wonderful kid—she's curious about everything and very creative. Today is also her 17th birthday!

This project dates back to 1993. I wrote an article about it for Home Furniture Magazine in 1997 (Taunton Press issue # 11).

I hadn't quite figured out the details of Greene and Greene yet.
Some of it looks clumsy to my eye now.

Much bigger turn out in West Seattle than I had expected. We marched for 2 1/2 miles down California Ave. Every intersection had a group making noise !

I assume you mean "bridle" joint? I used to do those on the table saw but now do them on the MultiRouter.
Your Shaper Origin (I have one too) is perfect for this joint.

Bruun Idum - our Troll . She is playing her flute to the Orcas to ask them why they have left Puget Sound. Made by Thomas Dambo( he travels the world making Trolls from recycled material) The flute was made by John Halliday of the local Muckleshoot tribe.

Lincoln Park has some wonderful rock walls made by the WPA in 1936.

Hard to read - it says WPA 1936 . My grandfather was a WPA worker in Oklahoma during the depression. With his team of horses he worked on building roads. My grandmother would say without the WPA they would have starved to death.

Every morning I go for a walk in Lincoln Park (Seattle). Wonderful way to start the day!

I've been doing this sort of thing with a CNC for many years.

Before that though, it wasn't difficult - just time consuming.
1st cut out the initial shape of the joint (relatively simple to do).
To make the mating piece use initial shape as a pattern and series of offsets for a perfect fit.

Thanks - maybe not quite that close of tolerances. The slides are made in the shop and can be pulled apart and adjusted if the wood moves.

Fixed!

This is a project from last fall. It's a reproduction (with some liberties taken) of the Greene and Greene-Gamble House Dining Room Table. I made two of them - one for a client and one for us.
There is a lot of unseen work in the slide system!

you got it right. I have always placed the concave side down. This time they are meant to be up. I put the front drawer rail up by mistake. I am in the process of fixing it now.

We always go to Endolyne Joes for breakfast on Sunday morning. It’s my favorite place in Seattle!
Some of the tables are game tables with small drawers on either side. People write notes and stuff in the drawer. This morning there was this! Love it!
