Aw damn, sending tea and accordion energy to you both. Let's catch up online sometime.
A photo of my bedroom nook, occupying a bay window at the tail end of a renovated RV. The window is decorated with a botanical poster overlaid by an alchemical symbol. This is flanked by plastic vines and a pair of lamps. The decor is in shades of moss green, mimicking the colors of the pine forest beyond.
An attempt at articulating some complicated feelings about last year's fire, the support I received from colleagues in gamedev, and the slow process of unpacking grief in our new home.

The biggest thing conspiracy theories get wrong is that they see a long line of cause and effect and think it's so perfect it had to be planned => we have to stop the planners
When actually most of the steps are OPPORTUNISM towards negative goals, and the issue is the systems that enable the steps
You are in the grocery store. They have twelve kinds of dish soap but not the one you usually buy. The names and colors are all changing. The colors run together and smear until they form a market stall where an old woman is selling her weird homemade dish soap. You emit a single autism photon
1, classic uniball. I like to take off the cap before a plane flight and suspend it over my head like the sword of Damocles.
Bullet points from the compact mug warmer manual. Keep mug, warmer panels at least 0.9 m away from combustible materials and keep them away from thermal coasters. In case of violation of this code and thus causing loss of life and property, it is not our company's responsibility. Please disconnect the power cord with the mug. Warmer is not used for a long time. If you violate this code and thus cause damage to life and property, it is not our responsibility. Do not place the mug warmer on the side of a bathtub or other water-filled container. It is not our company's responsibility to cause damage to life and property if this code is violated.
It is 2 AM and I am learning of the grave repercussions of violating the Mug Warmer Code. I have a duty to uphold
An illustrated, brightly-colored page from an instruction booklet reads: "The compact mug warmer is stylish and powerful. The 59 inch plug cord will fits on your desk perfectly."
Did a compact mug warmer write this?
I'll be making tea at this little picnic.
It's all fun and games until the permadeath hits
I heard stories of people who've fed crows, and been given gifts in return. It sounded charming, so I began doing that.
Then, one night, there was a rapping on my bedroom window. I stumbled up and opened.
A crow flew in and spoke: "They're coming for you. You must flee."
I only just made it out.
An enormous loss. Looking back in portraits, interviews (EN, FR), remembrances (including the essential writing of Louise Gray):
Printing this tweet on rice paper and making it into a suet block to feed the birdlike impostors in my yard
Every ten years or so the C-suite rediscovers the invigorating power of tech debt (courtesy of This Year's Inevitable Future), and then in between those they discover the paralyzing power of tech debt (courtesy of Last Year's Predictable Folly)

It was supposed to test whether the object is within the convex hull of all narwhal coordinates but due to a logic error it tests against their circumsphere instead.
Smh (shaking my horn)
This week I'm tinkering with SDF rasterization of complex polygons to speed up my game's collisions.
To make it fast, I had it start from the polygon vertices and "grow" the SDF pixel by pixel like a crystal using a breadth-first prioritization. This seems to work quite well.
Or triple down on this metaphor: all ships atomize the terrain beneath them like scrollsaws, lopping islands off continents and causing apocalyptic mayhem. Symmetric ships in the style of WSDOT ferries simply limit the damage.
January 2022. Evan's disastrous first attempt at a King's Hand has melted into a vast flat monstrosity of hot cookie dough.
Ah, but are you respectful enough for King's Mitt?
There's a different (realtime optimized) implementation on shadertoy based on some of the same articles. It's a looker.
No, no, I need to make progress toward an alpha version of my carpal tunnel
Reminds me of my favorite work on the site, "multi-scale Turing patterns". It's impressive that such organic structures can be morphed statelessly like that.
Having cemented itself as a classic, I imagine Qud will enjoy a fatter tail than most games. So I assume this enemy fire you're talking about is the literal guns they'll be shooting the artists with next year.
"Terraform Earth" is a backwards idea too, but much preferable to that one.
Just a lil 10,000 year time-out.
I'm still thinking the best use of medium orbit would be a giant debris cloud to keep our species from leaving and causing problems elsewhere.

I did notice the guy. But perhaps the solution to delusion is dilution.
I went back and looked at TIGSource today. Why did we ever leave? It's still there, and will continue to be there until its reclusive Truck Number guy dies in a mountain unicycling accident.
