As usual, the brunt of the coming economic hardship will fall hardest on the poorest and most rural communities. This presents a major opportunity for a Democratic politician to genuinely engage with these communities, connect with voters, and help amplify their stories.

Bitcoin in the bush - crypto mining brings power to rural areas
Bitcoin miners will go to remote locations to take advantage of cheap electricity.
Bitcoin in the bush - the crypto mine in remote Zambia. We visit a bitcoin project on the Zambezi river making use of 'stranded electricity'. The company behind it wants to start building its own renewable plants for mining and to spread electricity in Africa. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

UW just released this video with me about the philosophy of bitcoin.
“Bitcoin is there for anyone who feels like at some point they might need resistance money… If you think some day you may end up on the margins, you should know how to acquire and use bitcoin.”

Sometimes people say, "I don't care; I've got nothing to hide." We should not so willingly cede our privacy. For in so doing, we give up an important freedom -- the freedom to decide what we disclose about ourselves.
Here's how we put it in 𝑅𝑒𝑠𝑖𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑀𝑜𝑛𝑒𝑦:

Interesting to run into this on MLK Jr Day. In “Letter from a Birmingham Jail”, Dr King reminds us that not all laws are just laws, and that we needn’t obey unjust laws. Can you imagine unjust laws that the current administration might pass? Do you want a money that allows people to break them?

My friends @resistance.money, @bradleyrettler.com, & Craig have written a wonderful book on the philosophical case for #bitcoin. I think it's exceptional. Buy it at Amazon (a.co/d/eEhyC3u) or DM me here--I have a few PDF copies to give out.
tl;dr: turns out there are some positives AND negatives!

If by “drank the kool-aid” you mean that I did years of study and reading and then wrote a peer-reviewed academic book with 600 references, then yes I did! But it seems like you’ve made up your mind.

You can ignore the women in patriarchal societies and the democracy protesters against authoritarians and the Nigerian Feminist Collective and the North Korean defectors and the anti-Putin protesters and the Ukrainians and the human rights activists if you want, I guess!

Money Reimagined: Afghan Activist Roya Mahboob on Crypto
Bitcoin surely doesn't "fix" Afghanistan, but it "could play a very important role” as an alternative financial system.

Well, you might be comfortable with the incoming administration knowing all the details of your financial transactions, but not everyone is in that position. Bitcoin is private, censorship-resistant inclusive digital cash. If you can’t see why that’s useful for marginalized communities you’re lucky.

I have mentioned this specific use case on several podcasts, but I can’t remember if we use it in the book. The chapter starts with an example of someone buying drugs for their chlamydia. We definitely consider governments combing through the blockchain.
