I'm sure it's more complex than it seems! A number of plugins (specifically when in the CLAP format, it seems?) capture my spacebar presses when active, even if they don't do anything with that input. Drives me nuts when I can't drag an EQ node around and hit play/stop while I do it!

Feature request/beg for @kilohearts.com — please make the search bar capture text input automatically when you click to add a new effect. The number of times that I have clicked, started typing, and accidentally fired off a bunch of Reaper shortcuts in a row is frankly embarrassing

I'm not sure if my above idea is how it is handled, but I've got an old Rotel hi-fi unit from the '70s that has pop-less analogue mute buttons. I guess most cases where you'd want it, it ought to be built into something else?
It would need to be an active circuit, but I imagine using a capacitor to slew limit the gate on a transistor you could create a quick "fade" in/out...
I suppose this is a solved problem within some complex pieces of equipment, but doesn't have enough of a market to be a cheap standalone product

I don't know who needs to hear this but the classic whistly noise you associate with radio tuning is the sound of the bias oscillator in a tape deck creating electromagnetic waves that interfere with AM radio at broadcast frequencies that are harmonics of the bias frequency.
