Ed gets hit by daylight savings time and oversleeps for meeting. His driver calls and wakes him up; he gets ready in seconds, flies downstairs and into his car. As it pulls away, he realizes it’s maybe not his car, since there’s a shocked (and hot) blond staring at him.

You can certainly just say in the phone call “something is feeling a little funny; I’d like to come in for an adjustment” and then wait til you’re there to go into more detail. Separate the phone call horror from the criticizing the professional horror.

TJ Klune is generally uplifting, though there can be sad bits in some of them.
Jordan L. Hawk writes mystery/ thriller historical novels- there are often stressful parts but the intrepid investigator always gets his man. (Generally quite explicitly.)
