Obama ran as a progressive and won convincingly, but he governed as a centrist, perhaps center-left. Hardly anything extreme about that.

Despite Kamala's qualifications, she's a terrible politician, terrible speaker, terrible interviewee, and tone deaf. All of her speeches were exactly the same. I watched several of her speeches and after the first speech, it was just weird. Her handling of the Palestinian situation was atrocious.
As bad as Trump is he was able to convince stupid people that he was one of them. All three of our candidates were representative of the establishment status quo that most people are sick of. That is what makes them terrible candidates.
To clarify, both of them were infinitely better than Trump, and also much better than Joe Biden was when he ran. But the main selling point for all 3 is that they weren't Trump. Unless there is an incumbent who is getting a million people killed during a pandemic, that isn't good enough.
This is the problem. You guys think people actually care about qualifications. If that were the case then Trump would have never been president. People care about who they can relate to, wants what they want, and believe they can trust. Neither, Hilary or Kamala check those boxes.

You haven't answered the question. Name a "left-wing extremist" that has won a presidential primary. Hilary Clinton is a centrist, Joe Biden was a centrist. Kamala doesn't even count, but she is a centrist. Bernie Sanders, who is a leftist (not extreme), lost every primary.
