Brilliant to hear how local campaigners successfully stopped the building of a dual carriageway right down the middle of Rimrose Valley Country Park in Sefton.
Now, thanks to @rimrosevalley.bsky.social it's teeming with wildlife and walking and cycle paths for everyone to enjoy. Have you visited?

It's good to see government action against dangerous pavement parking. However, it is deeply disappointing not to see a nationwide ban.

Thanks to @wheelsforwellbeing.org.uk for this illustration of why this is such a frustrating and dangerous problem for people walking, wheeling and cycling.

We've all seen the before-and-after photos of Amsterdam and Paris - but we have our own examples to show how Liverpool is progressing away from gridlock and pollution, towards streets that are vibrant, welcoming and safe for everyone. More of this sort of thing please!

As the nights draw in… Remember that the Highway Code’s road user hierarchy puts responsibility on those likely to cause most harm (clue: that’s not pedestrians and cyclists).

You can’t take away parking spaces in Liverpool city centre, it’ll destroy the local economy they say…

Would you bring the cars back to Bold Street? 🚙🚙🚙🚙

MCC backs Liverpool’s new parking strategy In response to an article in the Echo from 14 October, Warning against ‘war on cars’ as major parking plan to be agreed, Merseyside Cycling Campaign has written to welcome Liv…

MCC backs Liverpool’s new parking strategy - our letter to the Echo.

This is not a “war on cars” — it is a war on congestion, toxic air and streets where people feel they have no alternative but to drive.

Remembering John Lennon on what would have been his 85th birthday 🕊️

“As a kid, I had a dream – I wanted to own my own bicycle. When I got the bike I must have been the happiest boy in Liverpool, maybe the world. I lived for that bike.”

The two tests of cycling infrastructure should be

1 - would this be okay for a 12 year old child on their own?

AND

2 - would this be okay for lone woman at night?

If the answer to either of these is NO then it's not adequate.

Text stating 'Walk Ride GM statement on canal assault' and the Walk Ride GM logo.

Walk Ride GM was horrified by the recent news of a hate crime against Klaudia Mitura on the Ashton Canal.

There is no excuse for violence, including this example of male violence against women.

Incidents like this are made more likely by a widespread press and media bias against cyclists.

Exacerbated by a social media environment that has turned the push for liveable cities into another culture war, we shouldn't conflate the digital and real worlds. Bikelash might be inevitable, but it's surmountable, if we realise this isn't just the right thing to do, it's the popular thing to do.🔚

The global phenomenon of “bikelash” has become one of the biggest barriers to implementing interventions that make our streets more liveable, accessible and sustainable. So how do we best manage it as advocates for change? Here are eight strategies we recently presented at the Velo-city Conference.🧵
