Happy New Year from the Brent
We exposed a similar problem in West and North London a year ago.
Diligent research by our trustee Ben Morris of @brentpollution.bsky.social and our friends at @friendsrivcrane.bsky.social found 100 homes discharging sewage into rivers.

Image of mouth of brook into River Cherwell showing collection of waste and scum on water.
The contaminated waste piled high in a field near Kidlington is now washing into River Cherwell. In the last 48 hours, the water level has risen 4+ feet and is lapping against the illegal dump.
We stand on the edge of an environmental disaster. We need urgent action from the Environment Agency.

The Brent. A London River.
The paragraph that jumps out says there is no enforcement of planning conditions of any kind. Does the government not wish to take control of building regulations? We see brand new developments discharging sewage directly into rivers, because inspectors donβt inspect and enforcers donβt enforce.
Great to meet you, Jenny, and Thanks to @thames21.bsky.social for a brilliant day of exchange and encounter among river action groups.
Watch our little film about the Brent, its beauty, and our battle to defend it from a host of man-made troubles. @thames21.bsky.social @friendsofthethames.bsky.social @brentriverpark.bsky.social @riveractionuk.bsky.social @thatvetsean.bsky.social
Short film by @brentpollution.bsky.social showing how nature miraculously survives amidst the despoilment of the River Brent.
Both enraging and uplifting!

Great to see this. Definitely looks like flush event.
Great to see the network spreading!
Big clean-up this morning, pulling Lime bikes, tyres, cable and other flytipping from the Brent. Thanks to all.
Looking forward to sharing our punchy short film next Friday. @brentriverpark.bsky.social @riveractionuk.bsky.social @thames21.bsky.social
