Nice! Thank you!
Nice! Thank you!
Hey #databs has anyone figured out a nice quarto resume template?
A very dark signal for Bluesky: I installed an app blocker to block all my social media except blue sky and I still don't check out all that often
I hate to say it but this is pretty accurate

Shower thought: I wonder how many tenured professors would trade tenure for better job mobility.
My neighbor has what I can only describe as "Big Umbridge Energy"
Has anyone figured out a good way to work with copilot tab completion vs positron tab completion?
It's also weird because if you switch from any other source of heat to a heat pump in order to have air conditioning, you're typically reducing your overall carbon emissions.
Basically there's a way to analyze this type of data with repeated measures of the same person, and they didn't use those methods and instead treated each issue as it's own observation. Also small sample size and almost insinuation results.
Subvert expectations!
It's really weird they didn't use a MLM, or at least publish a plot with the time by contributor.

Consensus from stats folks is that it's a bad study
I'm finally reading this paper but my first thought is anybody on earth good at predicting how long a task will take them....?
Setting aside the small person sample, randomizing the tasks within developer is....super odd? Wouldn't we start to expect a lot of order effects?
That's what I do! 50/50 granola to TVP ratio.
You can basically eat TVP like cereal which makes for a quick, very bland, very protein-efficient breakfast.
I regret to inform you that textured vegetable protein really is the best breakfast cereal.
So far the best use for AI that I've found is "describe modelling problem -> get hyper-specific Bayesian regression model for just such a use case"
Is there a good local SQL editor aimed at analysts that has GUI based data visualizations?

Look I know it was a mistake to turn Haliburton and Fox into the norcal Bulls, but I think a series of nationwide protests is really kicking Sacramento when it's down.
I feel like there's a natural way to generate these files from Quarto sites:

there really seems to be a strange βgreen lantern theory of fascismβ that some people on this website have internalized, in which the white houseβs desire for martial law βΒ itβs desire for organized repression βΒ is tantamount to a guarantee that it will happen
The thing we need to survive the current time is a new season of Silicon Valley about Gavin Belson going to Washington.
Dear colleagues, I want to give you a heads-up about a motion Iβll be bringing forward at our next Council meeting on June 10, which recommends a temporary pause on awarding new bike lane design and construction contracts. This motion responds to a number of converging issues: Increasing frustration among residents, businesses, and transit users about worsening traffic congestion and a lack of system wide planning. Project costs have escalated substantially, with the AAA bike network now expected to cost roughly $93 million almost quadrupling the original estimate. The Province has recently signaled a shift towards building rapid transportation in and out of HRM, and the LINKS NS Regional Transportation Plan will soon offer further guidance. And critically, we are not achieving the goals of the IMP to deliver a balanced and efficient mobility system. This motion simply asks that we pause new contracts and receive a report listing projects that could impact traffic capacity, along with an exploration of alternative ways to meet our active transportation goals without compromising the flow of buses, commercial vehicles, and private automobiles. This isnβt a step backward. Itβs a step toward doing things more inclusively and in a way that meets the IMP goals of delivering a balanced, connected, equitable, and efficient mobility system that works for everyone. I look forward to the discussion on Tuesday and welcome any thoughts beforehand. Kind regards, Andy

I think that pew graph is wrong. There's no way that women spend more time parenting today than in 1965 since they have fewer kids and more daycare. I think the definition of secondary childcare changed at some point.
We didn't really have a pandemic in Nova Scotia and I really notice the different when I go to other parts of Canada.
One of the funniest jokes in TV history big RIP
I started reading Twitter like a min 2010s blogging platform where I follow no accounts but just open individual people's pages. Surprisingly good!
