Genuinely interesting to me that Musk seems to have rediscovered, from first principles and lived experience, Karl Marx's fundamental claim that technological advancement can abolish scarcity for all, but without asking the second question "then why does inequality still exist?"

You can install it on multiple devices -- I have it on my phone, tablet, laptop, have had it on an office computer, etc. It has features like Dropbox sync for highlights and notes so it's definitely intended to be used across multiple devices.

I think I bought the software and most of my books in 2012-14, and the interface is all still the same, the resources I bought back then all still work, and it's still snappy and nice to use. 10/10 would recommend it to anyone.

I really like Accordance and have used it for years. You just buy the books/resources you want. They're not unreasonably priced, either; so for example checking their site right now they have the NRSV with Strong's numbers for $20, GNT with complete morphological tagging for $60.

48 hours ago I was scrutinizing frame-by-frames to make sure it was legitimate for me to say, in my sermon the next morning, that he was killed *after* being disarmed. Now even Fox is simply stating that is true.

To see Fox and the NY Post straightforwardly state that a) Pretti was disarmed before being killed and b) an agent accidentally shot his gun while holding it is just... blowing my mind.

This is astounding to me. I am so used to seeing every topic immediately polarize 50-50, driven by political and media polarization.
To see the *Fox* line becoming "agents thought their lives were in danger and this was a tragedy" REALLY speaks to the enormity of what has happened.

I check Fox semi-regularly to see what people I disagree with are being told. Just now:
"The New York Post reported that an accidental discharge of Pretti's...pistol, which was being held by an agent after it was taken away from him, may have made authorities believe their lives were in danger."

Note that it was not the University but the magazine's own (alumni/advisor) board which shut it down, which really says something about how rapidly young adults are being radicalized right now.

Their defense, by the way, is "We didn't know we were essentially paraphrasing Hitler, we were just expressing a common nationalist sentiment."
I'm not sure that "We weren't being edgelords, we just substantively agree with some of the principles of National Socialism" is that effective an argument

A 13-year-old boy was arrested by ICE in Everett and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia.
A 13-year-old boy was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Everett after an interaction with members of the Everett Police Department and sent to a juvenile detention facility in Virginia, according to his mother and immigration lawyer Andrew Lattarulo.
The boyβs mother, Josiele Berto, was called to pick her son up from the Everett Police Department on Thursday, the day he was arrested. After waiting for about an hour and a half, she was told her son was taken by ICE, Berto told the Globe in a phone interview.
βMy world collapsed,β Berto said in Portuguese.
From the police department, the boy was taken to ICEβs holding facility in Burlington on Thursday evening, where he spent a night before being transferred by car to the Northwestern Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Winchester, Va., on Friday morning, his mother said. The juvenile facility is more than 500 miles away from Everett.
The boy is a 7th-grader at Albert N. Parlin School in Everett, his mother said. The teen and his family, who are Brazilian nationals, have a pending asylum case and are authorized to work legally in the United States, Lattarulo said.
ICE kidnapped a 7th-grader with a pending asylum claim and spirited him out of state without notifying his parents, seemingly with the cooperation of the local police in Everett, MA.

The funniest and most frustrating part of old Twitter/new Bluesky is that it consists largely of smart and well-educated people having arguments about things outside their areas of expertise, in ways that rehash the contents of intro classes in the subject, with no self-awareness about it.

*So* much of the early Nazi success consisted of convincing sufficient numbers of British and French politicians that they werenβt really *so* unreasonable (and theyβd be useful against the Soviets!) until they had become a nearly-unstoppable snowball.

People running most authoritarian regimes are not stupid, nor are they so unthinkingly evil that they cannot be strategic.
Instead they use dramatic events as cover to do evil things that they already had plans to do, but in a way that obscures the intent for just a little longer.

This seems quite different from whatβs described in the article. ie it is feeding the results of a questionnaire into an LLM to describe the results, not using a chatbot to hold an open-ended pastoral or spiritual conversation.
Why not have them discuss the results with you, the priest, though?
