Human Rights First Deplores U.S. Attacks Against Iran - Human Rights First Human Rights First deplores U.S. attacks against Iran, carried out alongside Israel, without authorization from Congress or the United Nations Security Council. This unlawful action escalates conflict...

Human rights have nothing to do with this war by a U.S. administration that has forcibly returned Iranians to face harm in Iran, detained Iranian religious minorities in ICE custody at home, and now asks Americans to absorb the financial costs of escalation.

The SAVE Act would create new barriers to voter registration & undermine access to the ballot. It doesn’t protect elections. It targets historically marginalized communities and silences eligible voters.

The bill has passed the House. Urge your Senators to oppose it:

A broad coalition of multi-issue progressive orgs, from immigration advocates to labor unions, are urging Congress to co-sponsor H.R. 7346, the Drain ICE Act and rescind $75B in ICE funding.

Reclaim the funds. Invest in working families.

Infographic explaining the SAVE Act, which is made up of 3 bills: The original SAVE Act that proposes the requirement of DPOC in order to vote in federal elections, The SAVE America Act and the Make Elections Great Again Act all of which (cumulatively) requires documentary proof of citizenship and photo ID when registering to vote or voting, bans ranked choice voting, and bans universal vote by mail. Then there is a description/breakdown of what DPOC or documentary proof of citizenship is. DPOC, as outlined by the 3 bills, includes a US passport, US birth certificate, US naturalization certificate, and a US certificate of citizenship. It does NOT include a driver's license, medicare or medicaid cards, or any copies of aforementioned documents. On the bottom right side, there is a list of groups that will be targeted by this series of legislation: married women who have changed their name, transgender voters, people of color, young adults, and elderly voters. A box on the bottoms left states an important fact that 21 million eligible voters don't have easy access to DPOC.

The SAVE Act and similar bills are direct threats to voting freedoms. Congress is pushing redundant bills requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register/vote, which disenfranchises voters of color, people who’ve changed names, military families, rural communities & more. #SaveAct

Congo’s kleptocracy has left its people impoverished and oppressed. The actions we’re calling for would support the country’s brave activists and help prevent U.S. and Canadian markets from propping up that kleptocracy by hosting its dirty money.

This is authoritarianism. President Trump's comments clearly indicate that he intends to do anything to stay in power, with no regard for the democratic systems foundational to this country. Lawmakers and every day Americans have to stand up and resist to #SaveDemocracy

"The arrest of Don Lemon & 3 more journalists covering anti-ICE protest in MN is a clear violation of the 1st Amendment & an outrageous escalation of authoritarian overreach. When a government arrests journalists, it threatens free speech for all." - @humanrightsfirst.org's CEO @uzraz.bsky.social
