An Unconventional Seating Plan Designed to Benefit Focus and Learning After years of search and experimentation, this teacher finally hit on a room layout that allowed for efficient shifting between whole class, small group, and independent work.

And have to share two @edutopia.org posts in a row because this one from @mrrablin.bsky.social is SO cool! I have never seen this seating-arrangement strategy before.

What Worries Me About Teachers’ Use of AI A high school teacher reflects on how adult choices around AI useβ€”particularly their approaches to transparency and focus on efficiencyβ€”can affect classroom culture.

As always, here's @marcusluther.bsky.social with a truly excellent piece on @edutopia.org! In education, we talk about the time about teachers modeling learning and behavioral habits for kids. Marcus applies that same idea here to our AI use.

Reading a book on coming to terms with grief about your body and the concept of disability is only mentioned three times in the entire book. Feels like such a missed opportunity. Some really useful stuff in the book but I keep thinking, yes/and disability identity would be helpful here!

How Kansas Republicans weaponized the law to target 300 trans driver's license holders SB 244 was put into effect virtually overnight, causing chaos, panic and fear in the trans community.

New β€” I spoke to eight trans people in Kansas about the new state law that invalidated their driver’s licenses overnight, what’s it’s like to live there right now, plus details of two DMV emails exclusively obtained by The Handbasket that shed light on the law’s chaotic and cruel rollout:

If the work is meaningless, if it's not relevant, if it feels unconnected to the real problems in their world...truly, why should they care? (I know not all those problems are in the realm of teacher decision-making. We need a full system change baby!)

In my experience, "unmotivated" is so so rarely the case.

And! When it is! Kids are so right to be unmotivated, so much of the time.

27.02.2026 14:36 πŸ‘ 8 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

We are way too quick to ascribe students with a "lack of motivation." It takes much less vulnerability to say "I don't wanna" than it does to say "I don't actually understand this" or "I don't know how to do this" or "I am just trying to make it through the day."

the most unfortunate writing-routine tip I've discovered for my own ADHD: get the rest of your to-do list done first 🫠 It's hard to tune out unfinished tasks so I've found that writing at the end of the day or on Fridays after my inbox is cleared are the most productive.

Since then, SO many new ones have shaped my perspective and challenged my thinking.

This new book is out tomorrow and I have a chapter in it! It's on unconditional positive regard as an antidote to moral injury. Big idea: when we humanize our students, we humanize ourselves. Lots of great stuff throughout the whole book.
