Disability accommodations are a rare thing that actually trickles down. You like curb cutouts? Auto-opening doors? Jar openers? Ramps? Hand rails? YOUβRE WELCOME
Even as an abled person you use disability accommodations every single day.
Supporting accommodations actually helps everyone.

The green skies are suuuper eerie. I've seen that quite a few times. Idk if I've ever heard the train roar though, but we can blame that on the hearing loss. Which is probably why I'm so extra fearful of tornados (I can't hear them or the alerts!!!)

June 11, 1998 in Cumberland, Indiana is my earliest memory. I wasn't even 4 yet. My Grandma lived in an apartment complex next to the day care that was significantly damaged. I can vividly remember watching the dark clouds swell "above" the building behind us.

Idk if it's scientifically sound, but they might think the body of water helps protect? Fwiw it's not super close yet but I wouldn't be recording lol. I'd be in my closet with the dogs and likely a glass of wine! I'm usually the first to take shelter out of all my fam

Thatβs like 80% of public health work; distilling information down so the majority of people can understand and talk about it. We actually train for this! We take trainings on how to interview people, how to phrase things in ways that people are more receptive to. We do focus groups an experiments.

So desperately, I just want to read, study, and write. A challenging career change to make by default.
I love reading what other people have to say. It brings me immense comfort in my darkest times.
So why do I find it so hard to believe that other people might care about what I have to say?

Being self employed is cool for SEVERAL personal accessibility reasons.
It also sucks at times because RSD and youβre always exposed to lead/client comms (or lack of).
Trying to rebuild my confidence post-micromanagement (again) and itβs so hard. Being the brokest Iβve ever been doesnβt help.

I couldnβt say. Public health isnβt my area of expertise, Iβm also not a historian of it. I work in digital accessibility which is adjacent. But there are entire degrees and areas of study about this. There is so much nuance and history that has to be taken into consideration. Not a binary.
