when i succeed in NixOS, i want to print my config and frame it in the town square
FFIV-3d-Remake is running... Sound is terrible...
i get that, but is it to cover their own butts? who needs a lightning fast kernel that isn't going to game?
maybe it's just that Steam isn't noticing... Trying Heroic
^^this person *nix's
Bazzite doesn't have an image for a NVidia GeForce GTX 765M. Now i'm really disappointed. Can't even get a pre-build distro on this guy
oh jeez, i don't know that lingo! bout to call it a day, just after 8am...
I'm still tinkering with a Nvidia Prime laptop from 2015. Have been for 8 days now. NixOS. Toggling booleans. Adding possible kernel modules. This is my life now
i cannot get my partner to allow me purchasing a new computer for like... any reason ever. Exaggerating, but i'd have to lose 90% of my 'office'
Yeah, I get that. That's when I rotate my chair to my Arch machine and appreciate its properties for a while.
guix is a very interesting choice! Fun to play with, was a bit too tough for me up front. More power to ya
Very true. My guy with the new, dual processor Nvidia laptop feels my pain, but still twists the knife that it's not even a Thing with windows.
this is exactly why i put it on my general gifts wishlist
Haha, yes. I use hyfetch which lets me choose a small one
I made one on the BOFH server, which i then realized was probably your private host. Oops.
Could you inform me why you dislike Mastodon?
I would prefer Cachy over Bazzite based on concept alone. Bazzite is an "immutable" distro, like SteamOS. Cachy has not been "locked down" as such. Cachy is a suped-up Arch.
I put CachyOS on a laptop and yes, very fast.
my problem with it was that the automatic Nvidia-Prime software didn't work right away, and even with some tinkering. This is a ME problem. I do recommend CachyOS
yes it is
I should've asked ahead of time, but I created an account on that server. Should I not? I like that it bridges. I want to be able to Bsky and Mastodon at the same time and don't have a fave way to do that yet
Oh, I get it. I do. (the blocking)
Niri is a scrolling window manager that leaves a few packages still necessary to find. I did find 2 different projects that fill the gaps: Dank Material Shell, & Noctalia
That's quite interesting. Thank you for your keen eye!
(Your post on that particular site intrigues me...
Especially that i was not allowed to view it without a VPN)
But yes! KDEplasma is really polished!
I found it was easier for me to customize Niri with the additional hodgepodge of packages, than to keep on the KDE train.
Respect to K.D.E.
To be fair, I've found few Desktop Environments that setup the Window Manager portion correctly at first. I don't know if I have a bias towards not-winning at these things, but I often bootup new DEs in the TTY, just text editing config files for a while
That was very helpful when I ran KDE!
most of the time it was the Plasma-Topbar thing that crashed though; or the desktop background
Can't wait to use and promote illegal operating systems that do not verify age.

So, I'm into Privacy and Just Recently decided to do a bit about Network Security. Brax also likes that stuff. Do you, personally, think this Brax product will be great?

I think this isn't exactly unique to Linux. People dislike some major teams in say, sports, due to "winning too often," for various reasons.
that's a great take. I don't know why, but we seem to be a group who prefers to support underdogs until they win anything
oh, i believe it. I don't go to far off the path into the "flake" woods. Still sticking to the channel, for the most part.
I was wondering if I can switch to Stable and then just do a Flake Module of the Needs-to-be-Current packages...
