A speed camera at this intersection caught more than 3,600 people speeding in 2025, an average of almost ten drivers a day.
The New York City Department of Transportation has identified Rockaway Parkway as a Vision Zero Priority Corridor, but has not lowered the speed limit on the street, even though it is eligible for speed limit reductions under Sammyβs Law.
This morning, a driver hit and killed a 4-year-old boy in Brownsville, Brooklyn. He is the fourth child killed in New York City already this year.

Surprise, surprise: the #1 worst super speeder in 2024 also topped the list in 2025, receiving 259 tickets in the five boroughs and paying over $60,000 in fines last year.
Since this Audi was purchased in mid-2023, it has received over 1,000 speed camera tickets in total.
Nobody has the right to put millions of other people in danger. Yet thatβs exactly what these drivers are doing on a near-daily basis β the top 10 super speeders in New York were caught by school zone speed cameras an average of 179 times each, at least once every other day.
