The realism mode is interesting. A shooter-RPG with the RPG stripped out. Makes for very different, headshot-heavy combat with more sniping.
But it is just a bonus side-mode. The meat is the stat-juggling.
Also ยฃ12 for the Ultimate edition (which does include a few extra missions) is worth it IMO.

Even then, that's a single publisher that's going to make bank. Not sure what the great dividends for the games industry are going to be other than a month of writing guides for it.

Save 90% on Tom Clancyโs The Divisionยฎ 2 on Steam
Join The Division in this open world tactical shooter. Engage in intense cover-based combat, team up with friends, and build your ultimate agent to save Washington, D.C.
Oh dang, I was busy this week and didn't notice that the Realism Mode update rolled out for The Division 2. Only for the New York expansion though.
Still one of the best looter-shooters, constantly growing, some of the best urban environments in ANY shooter. And raids aside, mostly solo-friendly.

Given that GTA is just a single self-published studio I'm not even sure how that would work. The only people going to be making money off that are a couple retailers.

It must be very frustrating and sad to be the kind of person that thinks gaming is dying because they're not playing GTA 6 now.
It's like the videogame equivalent of being the person who spends all year feverishly waiting for the McRib to go back on sale when you live in a cosmopolitan food empire.

Oh, this is cute - due out just after the weekend - a game about running a Pacific Rim kaiju defense program, simulating every part from mech R&D to deconstructing the kaiju, selling the expensive bits, running a kaiju-meat restuarant and putting the bones on museum exhibit.

I've had this game since it was $10 many moons ago (staggered pricing during EA).
Rotwood is so good chat. The weapons, customization, the mechanics!!! So much to chew through and it gets even better with fellow Hunters!

It did a lot of cool things with the soviet super-science utopia angle, too! There's a high-tech Baba Yaga, a little old lady who gets around in a rocket-powered cottage who gets like ten times as much screen-time as the robot girls. And infinity times as many lines of dialogue.

Only a tiny bit did, but the weirdest nerds on the internet got obsessed over faceless generic fembots that appear like three times in the game.
I genuinely have no idea why.
But yeah, it's kinda halfway between Bioshock and a boomer shooter with a big pile of weapons, with an explorable overworld

Clever little budget-priced CPRG just left early access with a good launch discount, too.
A weird swampy fantasy setting, semi-real-time combat ala Vagrant Story and a cool claymation-esque art style. Also hugely undersold so far.
Go check it out, RPG folks.

I never imagined that Bio Menace would come back stronger than ever (they really re-tuned it, too) in 2026. Wonder how many other 90s shareware games could do with an overhaul.

Radio the Universe on Steam
Awakened from dreams of sunlight, a wanderer descends into the ruins.
Sometimes best laid plans explode horribly.
I'm still waiting on Radio The Universe, which was largely content-complete literally years ago (there's a beta build floating around) but the dev went radio-silent to work on polishing and tuning.

Two of the three DLCs so far were well-recieved. One was building on the dream-sequence stuff and had Counter-Strike style 'surfing' movement and a lot of people hated it because it was different.

Atomic Heart: Blood on Crystal DLC#4 - Gameplay Trailer
YouTube video by Mundfish #AtomicHeart
Oh, they're finally finishing Atomic Heart next month. Only... three years after its initial release. A game they announced back in 2017.
Honestly, liked it quite a bit. It launched at... an unfortunate time. Not that times have gotten any more fortunate. But I'm not touching any of that.

Shoutout to all the furries and VN fans out there. The Hayseed Knight is one of the most impressively produced games in the field I've ever seen. Fully voiced, gorgeous art, unusual story and setting and unconventional romance.
It always shocks me to see it undersold.
Sale ends soon.

Abuse has been free with a modern source-port for a while. It's a bit rough and janky by modern standards (it was a bit of a fringe release even back in 1996), but perfectly playable.
