"We project to have a million folks in the region in a couple of decades," he said, pointing to the challenges growth will bring in infrastructure and services.
"The job of the judge is to coordinate our response to that growth."
"They tried to ram through a massive change without talking to the community and to stakeholders," he said. "We just need a different approach to county business that will bring everybody to the table."
Deree said he wants people to feel government listens to them and understands their concerns, something he said is not always the case as, for example, when the county proposed sweeping changes to its land use and zoning laws.

We call upon our elected representatives to stand with us and to insist upon adherence to the rule of law and the legal processes and procedures that ensure orderly change. The administration cannot choose which law it will follow or ignore. These are not partisan or political issues. These are rule of law and process issues. We cannot afford to remain silent. We must stand up for the values we hold dear. The ABA will do its part and act to protect the rule of law. We urge every attorney to join us and insist that our government, a government of the people, follow the law. It is part of the oath we took when we became lawyers. Whatever your political party or your views, change must be made in the right way. Americans expect no less.
The American Bar Association has just called upon every attorney, regardless of their political views, to join them & stand up for the rule of law & at minimum insist that our government "follow the law."
Every lawyer has an ethical responsibility to do so.

I really like our new logo. This is still an exploratory effort, but we are working hard to put the pieces together.

I was so embarrassed about where I lived as a teenager that I would get dropped off in front of a nice place then walk two miles or so to where I really lived. Wish I could go back in time and tell that kid it wouldn't just turn out fine, it would be pretty great.
