BVSD commits to community conversation on police officers in schools – Colorado Hometown Weekly Boulder Valley School District leaders on Tuesday committed to having a broader conversation about school resource officers, but didn't immediately agree to a call by Boulder community leaders to eliminate the program.

“We’re just criminalizing our kids, I think, with these SROs in our schools,” said BP board member Lisa Sweeney-Miran while serving on BVSD's board. “A police officer is not a social worker or mental health worker, no matter how much training they have.”

Mike Mills has been a fervent advocate for sustainable transportation and human rights since moving to Boulder in 1990. Retiring in 2023 after a distinguished career in atmospheric chemistry and global climate modeling, he now dedicates his efforts full-time to local change.

Minimum Wage Increase — Boulder Progressives In 2023 Boulder County raised the minimum wage and implemented an annual wage increase schedule to allow the county to reach $25 an hour by the year 2030. Boulder Progressives supports a minimum wage increase and annual schedule that is at least commensurate with the county, and we would be likely to support other proposals that would increase wages in the city to an amount which is higher than the county given the city’s higher cost of living.
