🥁 🥁 TODAY we launched a new policy platform: Housing Policy That Solves Climate Change. Americans face a dual housing crisis. Supply shortages drive up costs, and too many people have to drive too many hours to get to their homes, schools, and doctor's offices.
I continue to love Climate Cabinet’s approach to reimagining the world as it will be with universal consideration of climate in the policies that underpin people’s daily lives.
Great report highlighting actions that can be taken by state and local leaders now to drive progress on climate and affordability. These are also good investments from a risk-return perspective. Hoping state and local pensions and state economic development authorities are paying attention.
With the White House’s repeal of the Endangerment Finding, the future of climate will be written at the state and local levels. Here are 16 places to get started.
The impact of good policies can be substantial. A 2023 report from the Terner Center estimated that building more housing in walkable and rollable communities could reduce pollution by a magnitude equivalent to ⅔ of the US adopting CA’s zero-emission vehicle targets.
