We heard you liked countdowns, so we're bringing you a new one:
Desert Bus for Hope 2026, our 20th voyage, will be launching on October 23rd, 2026. #db2026
More information to follow.
Sure, you only have to pay for one but it'll be three times the price!
Right, I think he arrived at a suitably big enough number to clearly make the point that you could never buy yourself a Desert Bus for Hope and produce this result. The passion, love, and generosity of hundreds of volunteers are the only reason this works.
Every time he explodes you have to count his regeneration time toward the cost of Desert Bus.
Thank you again to everyone out there! Another year down, another million raised, and so many people who will be helped because of what you've done with us this year and every other! We couldn't do this without you, and through all the laughs and the tears, we wouldn't want it any other way...
Perhaps some kind of squat-related exchange rate for this challenge?
@nightvaleradio.bsky.social I'm at jury duty today as indicated on the community calendar and it's nothing like what Cecil described. I'm very disappointed.
May your Independence Day treat you the way you think we should treat undocumented immigrants, trans people, and poor people.
We have bussed 24 hours, and you raised over $204,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation (including our 100k of Anonymous matching). Thank you so much for your generosity during this bonus Desert Bus event.
Come witness the Final Busdown:

I thought about trying to set it up, but I think I'm going to just enjoy the vibes for this event.
The Desert Bus Express logo, which is similar to the Desert Bus for Hope Logo, but features a Bus speeding to the right in the center of it, instead of the desert landscape.

I still firmly believe the best burger in Chicago *was* at Owen & Engine, but sadly they closed a few years ago.
Governmentβs wins are often invisible: Systems that avoid plane crashes; alliances that avert war; surveillance that prevent pandemics.
Government wins are often *the avoidance of loss.*
So how do we tell the story of the destruction of government? The story of future losses *not* averted?
Trump is bailing out corrupt Democrats because it gives him leverage over them. The conflict of interest means the Mayor needs to be immediately removed from office by @govkathyhochul.bsky.social. Whether or not he ever did, Mayor Adams no longer works for the people of NYC. He now works for Trump.
π§΅The decision to change βLGBTQβ to βLGBβ on the Stonewall National Monument page is yet another example of the Trump administrationβs blatant attempts to discriminate against and erase the legacies of transgender and queer Americans.
Erasing our history won't erase us.
Transgender people have always been here β and we always will be.
*feeling of deja vu*
I'm sure Trump will pardon him any day now.
Hey all, we've gotten a *lot* of tips since this post. Keep 'em coming.
The deep-dive investigations we tend to do will often take longer to source, report, corroborate, fact-check and publish, but our reporters are hard at work following up on leads youβve sent.
Thanks for your trust in us.
You keep saying you "need answers" but you can just be a firm "NO." You can keep asking questions to make him squirm even if you make it clear there's nothing he can do to win your vote. Please, we need you to stop clinging to decorum and punch back as hard as you can. Steal the Republican playbook!
I'm disappointed that Mexico didn't hold firm and refuse to talk to Trump until he backed down.
The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran.
Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...
This blatant, public, snub of one of the party's youngest rising stars came as a shock to many. This didn't seem like an action that should be taken by a party restructuring in the wake of a massive defeat. Hell, even the Republicans are embracing their next generation! Every young Republican is more embarrassing to their party than the last but they find themselves ascending through the ranks despite it all. Why is it that when a young Democrat tries to do the same, they walk out to the parking lot to find Nancy Pelosi keying their car? What reason could Democrats have to not embrace the future? Don't they want to win? Don't they care about their party? Well, that's easy. They're not a political party anymore. The post 2016 era and its abundant fundraising off the threat of The Other Guy has transformed the messaging of a party that was already dealing with aggressive West Wing Syndrome into that of a glorified ad agency. They make very sentimental commercials and they're the losingest team in baseball. The party itself has become a loosely affiliated group of ultra-wealthy individuals and highly compensated consultants put in charge of defending the interests of the socially conscious wing of the ruling class without ever endangering their bottom line. They're at best incompetent and at worst profiteering so openly off industries they're meant to regulate that the conspiracies Republicans push about their corruption are beginning to rhyme with the truth. All they need to do to maintain their personal status quo is fundraise every few years and move their substantial assets to the right places at the right times.
Also wrote about how the Democrat Party isn't really a political party anymore
I hope this helps clear up what just happened. It is short, free, and sourced.

Critically, I don't want to engage with video or audio on social media, and I don't have the will to keep up with chat history in various channels. I just want to scroll a feed of memes for topics and fandoms I enjoy like Star Trek and Futurama and argue and joke about them in the comments.
Reddit seems like the closest alternative but it's also got its own issues with use of AI and recent scandals and so far seems disfavored by group admins from Facebook. What else is out there for me?
In spite of every way that Meta is garbage, left leaning Facebook groups with good moderators have thrived and been very good for my mental health. I sense these groups are going to start to die, but nothing provides a comparable experience. Bluesky has no groups and Discord has no aggregation.
I've been thinking about a move from Facebook, where I live mostly in groups, to Bluesky. I've taken a few steps in that direction, but just browsing today I think it's not going to work out for the same reason I never belonged on Twitter. I need a place where communities are centered. Maybe Reddit?
