added the victory screen after seven months of development :P there were so many things players would bump into, that this hadn't been a priority. but now that players are actually finishing the game with the best possible ending, we needed a way to tell them :) #gamedev #godot #roguelite

lol @ all the size flags to get this to work. but it works! i don't think godot let's me fill out grid columns horizontally though, since this is a set number in the inspector? #godotengine #indiegame #gamedev

For general motivation, i am now also learning we have to create an environment in which the player can set their own goals. But for smaller mechanisms, like a dialogue or crafting decision, i wonder if not mentioning the outcome makes it more or less motivating to engage with the system.

Can it be fun to ‘discover’ the rewards, or the secondary rewards if they are predictable/always the same? And can we say the same for negative consequences? Or is that where the line is drawn?

Game designers: is there a best practice when it comes to telling the player what a reward is for a decision? From a ux point of view i tend to be transparant about everything, but i also see games offering ‘surprise’ rewards. #gamedesign #gamedev #indiegame

I laughed and was intrigued and it was animated in ghibli style in my mind for a bit. Out loud laughing happened at ‘this is not how this works’ (2x) and at ‘.. or whatever turn out good.’
