It's not just oil and gas though, it's also fertilizer. A significant portion comes from fossil fuel byproducts. This will spike commodities prices in food and create massive global unrest as food prices drive people to famine. It'll be an inflationary shock.
Gulf states are already taking oil wells offline while their infrastructure is attacked and it could take months to scale back up just from the disruptions thus far. If this goes even a week longer, we're looking at a year of oil supply disruptions at a minimum.
Because oil demand is so relatively inelastic, we could see $8/gallon gas in the US before we get to equilibrium between supply and demand after the strait of Hormuz was shuttered. That would certainly result in a full blown crisis in the US where there are not many transportation alternatives.
