you sit down to meditate and then 5 seconds in these mfs show up
It was a timed box breathing exercise, but it proved way too cumbersome juggling the fight and a timed sequence that wasn't connected to the combat action. Failed experiment, but I continued since then and will keep trying more ideas!

I'm still working how the level of visual fidelity for assets that feels right and achievable. I love the retro 3D look and would love to be able to do PS2-level visuals, but I'm not good or fast enough for that. So I'm sitting somewhere betwene PS1 - PSP level?
Just read a great essay about the classic board game Go as a vehicle for Buddhist practice and learning. Some wonderful life lessons to be found as well. I gotta give Go another try.

I'm still figuring out how it'll all fit together, but the goal of the prototyping process is to find a way to express that aspect of Buddhist philosophy in digital form.
Yeah, I get the fatigue as well. I think souls-likes (especially FromSoft's) have had very spiritual stories/settings, but I want to make the spiritual journey the focus. In Buddhism, the cycle of reincarnation is a source of great suffering, but it is also the crucible of positive transformation.

The game is about a warrior trapped in the hell realms, their suffering and journey discovering the Buddhist path.
This project means a lot to me, so I will do my best to make something interesting and meaningful for players. 🙇♂️
