Faith Danielle (@faithdaniellemd) In medicine, we talk about everything. Except wealth. That silence is part of the problem. Wealth Dose is where we start talking about the systems that build wealth in medicine. Welcome to Wealth D...

Sometimes your thinking gets clearer over time.

Lately I have been thinking more deeply about medicine and money and how physicians actually build stability.

That is what I am exploring in The Wealth Dose.

L.A. child dies from complication of measles infection contracted in infancy The child died from subacute sclerosing panencephalitis, a fatal progressive brain disorder that strikes roughly 1 in 10,000 people infected with measles.

Evidence-based child vaccine recommendations are about more than individual decisions

A baby too young to be vaccinated contracted measles & recently died in childhood of a complication

Vaccines protect kids who receive them β€” & babies & others in their communities

Trump’s Ozempic Deal Has a Major Flaw Obesity drugs are still too expensive.

Donald Trump has announced a deal to slash the cost of obesity drugsβ€”but the biggest winners might be just a small number of patients, @nicholasflorko.bsky.social argues.

Diphtheria, a Once Vanquished Killer of Children, Is Resurgent

Measles is back

Whooping cough is back

Now, diphtheria is staging a return with large outbreaks now in Somalia, Sudan, Yemen and Chad β€” countries with civil wars or large populations of refugees where vaccination coverage is low...

It’s not giving up it’s more that people outside of black people need more time to wake up.

And while they are taking the time we will be at home.

Black people still stay home.

They still aren’t mad enough.

They still don’t get it.

It hasn’t moved them yet.

They need more time.

They excited about numbers

Not the message.

Stay home.

@sspadafore.bsky.social @faithdaniellemd.medsky.social be bold with your beliefs. Taking a stand on policy can close some doors, but those are likely doors you don’t want to walk through anyway.

People really gonna feel the impact of this in healthcare next year!

Keep playing with the system.

I’m telling you it’s not built the way you think it is.

The medical workforce will be impacted #medsky

Critical part of the President's new $100,000 charge for H1-B visas: The Administration can also offer a $100,000 discount to any person, company, or industry that it wants. Replacing rules with arbitrary discretion.

Want visas? You know who to call and who to flatter.

Though I am not a bioethicist, I often ask if medicine, public health and wellness know how to heal themselves once the arbiters of dis and misinformation are destroyed, or will the deeper ethical wound remain despite destruction? #publichealth #medsky #healthpolicy

Early Sun morning thoughts.

Seeing wellness, public health and medicine as separate but equal rather than holistic is why patients feel disconnected from care and why physicians feel like armless soldiers in the fight against misinformation.

We need to address the root of healthcare’s problems by repairing the divide between wellness, public health and medicine. Ignoring their overlap wins battles but loses the larger fight for America’s health.

Even if RFK steps down, the deeper issue in public health, medicine, and wellness remains. The mentality fueling this problem is broader and more dangerous than one man, and dismantling it will take far more than his resignation.

We did our jobs too well.

To the point even people in medicine think pediatrics doesn’t have challenging pathophysiology.

We prevented disease too well.

That’s our problem

What’s happening at the CDC is very sad to watch. I know the everyday people in the organization are just so disappointed in their leadership right now.

But this won’t and will not last forever.

One, thing I always love about Adam Sandler movies is that it’s so New England coded.

And it’s awesome.

The reason why this matters:

We need the support of our professional orgs if we are going to be making recommendations beyond the FDA and CDC. There is always a risk of side effects so having institutional backing is appreciated.

What bothers me most is how quiet the science and health community is about what’s happening in DC.

I get it we’re busy, in our own bubble.

But if you only focus on yourself, by the time you notice DC, it’ll be at your front door.

Time to wake up.

It might be science and healthcare’s gun violence moment but not a Jan 6th moment.

Jan 6th stopped the news; everyone knew.

Race and class was central to that story.

Which is not mention in the op-ed

But a lot of people don’t even know this happened last week.
