10 years ive been using photoshop and using [image->rotate->flip horizontal] and waiting sometimes several minutes for it to flip instead of using [view->flip horizontal] to instantly flip it.

I often use a gradient map set up like this to check readability. Which is also useful if doing studies and in my opinion gives a much better result than posterize layer.
