It's A Dome That's Shaped Like A Saddle | Defector CALGARY, Alberta β€” The Germans are famous for squishing words together to form useful new compounds. But Calgarians perfected the art when they came up with β€œSaddledome.” You look at it, and you say, ...

I get very nostalgic about old arenas, and I love Canadian hockey, so I knew I was going to have to get to the Saddledome before it got demolished. defector.com/its-a-dome-t...

tonight I saw the Bad Plus with Chris Potter and Craig Taborn, and they played a whole set of American Quartet (Keith Jarrett et al) tunes. fuckin... insanely good. absurdly good. nice to be surrounded by jazz freaks again, it's been a while

there should be a name for the specific point in a company's growth when they learn the very hard way that they need to stagger emails/push notifications. "how big is your company, pre-self-DDOS?"

to me it is boring as fuck to cede your whole life to the lies of advertising. you have a wrinkle and your body needs more maintenance than it used to: inevitable! you stop being curious or interested in anything new: not fucking inevitable actually

I Am So Fucking Tired of Listening To Women My Age Complain About Being Old and Washed In honor of my recent birthday at the end of Aries season, here’s an essay about the pleasures of getting deeper into your thirties and the pernicious obsession with female abjection in cinema.

god I am about to LOSE it about everyone I know complaining that they are too old at the advanced age of 30-something. for now I will reshare this perfect @angelicabastien.bsky.social column instead angelicabastien.substack.com/p/i-am-so-fu...

For university me, who played Hoketus in fourth year "avant garde music" chamber ensemble under Matt Brubeck, one of my favourite musical experiences of all time. That piece was hard AF and extremely fun to rehearse.

yeah, it's interesting to see the divide. imo the possible passivity of consumption has something to do with it. you can put on music, tv, movies in the background, so it's easier to devalue them as things you can blow through with little attention, aka not worth buying individually
