Your artist friends would make art for you for free if the society you invest in also invested in them.
Chasing scraps or late payments is time that could be spent doing literally anything else so you lose twice.
One of the many exhausting things about capitalism is it doesn’t facilitate taking on pro-bono work or even spec work for something you’re really passionate about with no budget. A lot of the work I do “for free” is the most satisfying to me but I can only do it because of my day job.

One of the most terrifying experiences of my entire life was driving up to a kids birthday party in an F150 and the truck being swarmed with toddlers and the parents did literally nothing and laughed.
If conservatives cared about children they’d stop buying SUVs and F150s.

If you are an adult that “still feels like a kid,” may I recommend spending more time around actual children. Like just go to the library or park and spend time with the children in your life. Exist in public spaces with children. Nothing will remind you of your adulthood like actual children.
As I get older the more I realize I really do need a different notebook for every topic/project. One size fits all does not work for me actually.
I didn’t cook a lot for fun in 2025 until the past two weeks during which I have made like 5 soups. Soup is healing.

Yeah!! a lot of times I feel artist/illustrators/photographers are ahead of the curve on trends simply because they like a thing and make the art the commercial artists then look at and turn into the trends. I feel obvious typing this out now because it’s obviously devil wears Prada but yeah
