honestly I feel like the nonfiction/fiction dichotomy should not be as dominant as it is. we need more ways of describing writing and its relationship to the writer and to the world and to time.

Turns out the real civic duty is being performed by my husband, who has an actual salary job (unlike me) and who has to do two parents’ worth of kid schlepping on a day when our eldest has no school!

today’s my first jury service! It was originally for next week but I requested a partial excuse Tueaday so the feds said okay then come in an earlier, more inconvenient Tuesday instead, no take-backsies. So here I am downtown in ill-fitting pants cosplaying business casual.

Millions of people dying was very bad, yes of course. And also COVID at one time appeared like it might have created an opportunity to make things different, maybe better…..and then instead we doubled down on Status Quo Society, except with more death. That was some bad whiplash.
