Like, I watched the movie and was LEFT CONFUSED BY THE PLOT. It felt like it had started as another story and got severely edited. Then I learned the original plot line and was like “Ohhhhhhhh” because *that was exactly what happened*

Outside of this being a shit thing to say, considering all of Pixar’s other movies, the WHOLE PLOT of “ELIO” would have made INFINITELY MORE SENSE if it had been about a kid being gay and not fitting in as compared to what they turned it into by taking that plot element out.

We’d been pondering Chicago already! This would just make it more interesting :)
