The UK does need a chunk of grid upgrade, but Β£80bn is a lot when thereβs such a challenge with energy bills
Surely we need a clear justification for every major transmission project
If these justifications are essentially secret, itβs a huge governance fail

Weird accusation coming from a boiler lobbyist.
High electricity costs help boiler sales I guess
It is perhaps unsurprising that a boiler lobbyist is campaigning against reforms to cut electricity bills

Great Britain wastes billions of pounds switching off wind turbines & wasting energy.
Zonal energy pricing would put that energy to work & make bills cheaper.
Hereβs our fish-man fisherman to explain... octo.ps/zonalfish
Our new van with the door slid open, putting the "O" from Octopus in front of the "rgy" of Energy. Oops.
Hello Bluesky πππππππππ
A lot of customers have asked us to swim our way over here, so we're dipping our tentacles in.
Give us a follow, we'll be floating around to chat all things green & geeky, make energy fairer, and own up to van printing disasters:
We canβt lead the world on Net Zero if other countries look at our high electricity prices and decide they donβt want to follow.
Great to see Britainβs βbuild build buildβ pro-renewables campaign making the case for zonal pricing.
The renewables sector puts its own pipeline at risk if it doesnβt support market reforms to reduce bills. People are losing patience.
Renewable energy could deliver British consumers some of the cheapest electricity prices in Europe.
But until we have locational pricing, weβre just paying wind farms to switch off.
