ICYMI: The draft guidance could force schools to segregate Trans+ children in toilets and changing rooms
A new report, using insights from 50 teachers, warns of the detrimental harm of new draft education guidance. Equalities Minister Olivia Bailey has been warned in a new report that draft schools guidance is already causing confusion, concern and harm in schools. It is the latest in a series of unpublished drafts of guidance on the treatment of Trans+ kids in schools.

Two more organisations have submitted calls for the UKโs Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) to lose its important 'A' rated status as an equalities body. Further submissions have been made to The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), the UN body that rates Equalities Watchdogs worldwide, calling for the UK regulator the EHRC to lose its 'A' rated status.
It marks the fourth time in the last six years that the UK equality watchdog has faced challenges like this https://www.wearequeeraf.com/understand-the-lgbtqia-news-a-consequential-by-election-for-the-uks-democratic-system-and-the-fight-for-lgbtqia-rights/#%F0%9F%8C%90-ganhri

Letters have gone out to 1500 Trans+ drivers, warning them their licences are now invalid, and if they drive - they could be arrested Transgender people in the US state of Kansas have begun receiving letters indicating their driving licenses are no longer valid as of the 26th of February. The letters warn that if they drive with them, they could be breaking the law and face arrest - Erin In The Morning The letters follow legislature, forced through by Republicans despite a Governorโs veto.

Many more will choose to shut down this month - it's the annual registration period, and the central org sent out letters demanding all members sign to confirm their gender assignment at birth. This policy is intrusive and unwelcome. This is destroying the WI, literally.
A non-binding, but significant resolution sets out to European countries: Trans women are women. The European Parliament has passed a resolution on gender equality, which contains a declaration that trans women are women. The resolution, passed in a vote of 340 to 141, sets out the blocโs approach to the 70th annual UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York next month - Erin In The Morning
Though not binding, it sends a clear message to countries all over the bloc.

More than 20 years ago, a ruling from the European Court of Human Rights changed the lives of Trans+ people
Now, itโs significance is being erased
The submission builds on similar challenges from TransActual UK, Amnesty International UK, and the Trans+ Solidarity Alliance, Trans Advocacy Complaints Collective (TACC) and Scottish Trans in 2025. It makes the fourth time in the last six years that the UK equality watchdog has faced challenges like this, including earlier ones from Stonewall and Mermaids - QueerAF The submission comes just one day after a group of UN experts warned the EHRCโs new code of practice must ensure โtransgender people [can] lead safe and dignified lives, while continuing to uphold robust protections for all women and girls against discrimination and violenceโ, in a stark intervention to the UK government - UN
This builds on similar challenges by @transsolidarity.bsky.social and @transactualuk.bsky.social - marking the fourth time in six years that the EHRC has faced challenges like this.
The two organisations are calling for the EHRC to lose its important 'A' rated status as an equalities body.
It is currently still ranked in the highest tier of organisations worldwide despite a recent history of support for gender-critical measures.
This came just one day after a group of UN experts warned the UK could be at risk of breaching international human rights rules over trans rights.
@humanrightsvicky.bsky.social told QueerAF how their submission sets out the EHRC โhas undermined rightsโ for Trans+ people and taken positions in court contrary to human rights standards by pursuing what they describe as โGender Critical Ideologyโ.
The Trans Exile Network and, significantly, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention, have made a submission following the EHRCโs decision to support strict โbirth sexโ placement in prisons and "the incompatibility of that position with international norms". The organisations also state, in a cover letter seen by QueerAF, that the EHRC "has undermined rights" for Trans+ people and taken positions contrary to human rights norms in court by pursuing โGender Critical Ideologyโ.
Two organisations, the Lemkin Institute for Genocide Prevention and the Trans Exile Network, have submitted a challenge following the EHRCโs support for strict โbirth sexโ placement policies in prisons, arguing the position is incompatible with international human rights norms.
โInternational experts couldnโt be clearer: trans inclusion is a vital human rights standard that the UK must uphold,โ @transsolidarity.bsky.social
