This is exactly what I would say to my high schoolers when they asked me for advice. You get out of college what you put into it, so you can succeed and thrive anywhere, but for long term, go to the school who offers the most money.

to clarify, it's a moral abstration -to them-, I understand it's a very real thing to the victims. I am saying I can see why they would wrongly decide it's not their problem.
At my uni it's all about fighting cuts/layoffs, and they're just as laissez-faire about LOSING THEIR OWN JOBS! Opposing rape is a moral abstraction, so I can at least see the vanity in ignoring it, but they don't wanna even fight for their own jobs because they don't wanna fight for -anything!-
We're dealing with (non-Epstein) things at my uni and it's wild how much our faculty senate just wants to....go along with whatever as long as it's fairly frictionless! You can't just make a moral or logical argument, you have to make the status quo have as much friction as you can to make change...
Something I am learning in my brief time working in higher ed is how badly comfy people with comfy jobs will literally do anything to just keep their personal chill space intact. They got into higher ed for the security, prestige, and routine, and would rather sweep it all away than have to change.
I'm very sorry for your loss. I had to say goodbye to a similar white cat in November. What a beautiful perfect cloud.
Isn't this literally the way All The President's Men starts?
One time I asked my therapist for action items and she said "ehn, I feel like you've got everything covered. Also we don't need to meet for a bit if you want a break. Good work!"
Still not sure if I got an A in therapy or was so heinous she needed to get rid of me ๐ฌ
ehn, it's fine. Like all things in life, it has its pros and cons.
When I started dating again after my divorce I saw a lady's profile that said "please no polygamy or ENM, I have a full time job and I am very tired"
So you hate frites?
No, she lost because she hates waffles.
My friend just got one, but she called it the "HOV" vaccine, so now she gets to use the carpool lane, which is a nice perk.
She was relentlessly made fun of in the 90's for talking about a "vast, right wing conspiracy," across talk radio, late night talk shows, and more, and yet....
No but Hillary Clinton does. Which is why she lost 2016
Has she posted any anti-dentite content recently?
Link to the cats feed?
This has "mechanical turk" written all over it
I mean the free version has always been enough for me, but I'm not a power user.
It's pretty great - I've had it for I think well over 5 years now, and it hasn't enshittified in the slightest.
Bitwarden is pretty great, super easy to use, with an excellent free tier. I have had it for years after leaving 1password and lastpass behind.
holy shit how much weight is that? Your form is impeccable.
A 3 legged cat eating food from a bowl with her legs splayed out very widely in a "power stance"
This morning I am staving off the demons by appreciating my tripod cat's power stance while eating
Gonna go ahead and predict it will be revealed to be several hundred low wage workers in some other country actually taking the courses for the students to simulate the idea of an AI agent.
Either way it's a horrible situation.
Calling it right now that this is just them contracting a bunch of workers in another country to pretend to be the AI agent.
Either way it's horrible though.
Episodes 4 and 5 are fantastic, possibly the best NuTrek. The other ones are absolutely not for me, but those two are worth watching so far
A diagram of a chasm where a person sits on one end labelled "idea" and the other side has a prize and is labelled "results" - the chasm in between is labelled "being cool". Then underneath it is the same diagram but now the person is walking across the chasm as a bridge has formed which is labelled "being cringe" - being cringe is what you need to get what you want!
I had this pinned up in my filmmaking class for teens.
